Does this food have everything a 14month old Great Dane needs?

no, it does not. A Great Dane at that age is still growing, and this food is not formulated for growth of large breed dogs. Always check the AAFCO statement on the bag. This one says it is for all life stages *except* large breed growth. since it's not formulated for large breed growth, there is no guarantee the minerals are the correct amounts and ratios.

Is the citric acid safe for dogs? I’ve heard claims of it causing bloat, so I just like to check!

Citric acid is safe for dogs. It is a natural and colorless translucent crystalline acid, which comes from the fermentation of carbohydrates or from citrus fruits, like lemon, lime, and pineapple juices. It is often used as a natural preservative and is a molecular component of vitamin C.

It says this product is made in the USA with products from around the world. Where are the products from?

Instinct sources their poultry, pork, and fish from the United States (salmon meal from the United States, Canada, and Chile).The fish is fresh-caught from the Atlantic and Pacific.The beef and lamb are from the United States, venison is from the United States. and New Zealand, and the rabbit is from France. The vegetables and fruits are from the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, depending on the ingredients. The grains and starches are sourced from the United States, Canada, and Brazil. Herbs and spices from North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Most ingredients are sourced from the United States and are only sourced from other locations as needed. Instinct is very stringent on sourcing and have good relationships built with their vendors for quality ingredients.

We found this brand food three Dobermans ago with a dog that had allergies it was great , all of them have love the taste , even the picky eater , we have now used

My dog wants to know where this food has been all her life! I have several whippets, one of them extremely particular about her food. Some days Eddy eats, some days she looks at her bowl as if it's going to attack her any minute. Those days you can write it off—Eddy isn’t going to eat. That didn’t happen at even one meal with Instinct Be Natural! She wolfed it down every time w and wanted more. I wondered if someone had substituted another dog for mine! It’s a pleasant food to feed—no strong aroma—and Eddy says the taste appeal in incontestable. I’d highly recommend it for any dog, nd especially those who consider eating an optional activity. Eddy doesn’t any more!

My GSD really enjoyed this food, seemingly more than his typical dry food! His standard diet includes a mix of kibble and "wet" food of some kind. The mixture of crunchy kibble with a hydrated alternative is his favorite. When we mixed the instinct kibble into his routine, he was excited to eat it on it's own, he didn't even seem interested in the hydrated added food. I can foresee him transitioning to the Instinct dry food altogether, he enjoyed it so much. Plus, the size of the kibble was perfect. It wasn't too small, but not so cumbersome that he was turned off by it. Some kibble for large dogs ends up being too big for him.

I've always thought of raw diets as gross wet food that needs to go in the fridge... This is just as easy to feed as any kibble! My dog was super excited by it's smell as soon as I took the bag out, even though it's not stinky by human standards. He didn't have any stomach upset from the change in food. It works well in our automatic feeder too. Packaging clearly displays ingredients and feeding recommendations. Overall very pleased with this food!

Formula Change Includes Chicken - Longtime Customer Disappointed

I’ve been feeding Instinct (formerly Nature’s Variety) Lamb & Oatmeal Whole Grain to my dogs since 2009 -over 15 years of loyalty. I specifically chose this food

I’ve been feeding Instinct (formerly Nature’s Variety) Lamb & Oatmeal Whole Grain to my dogs since 2009 -over 15 years of loyalty. I specifically chose this food because it was one of the few premium options that did not contain chicken, which my dogs are allergic to. Without clear warning or announcement, the formula recently changed and now includes chicken. The update was subtle -easy to miss if you’re a longtime customer who trusts the product and doesn’t expect a major change to a sensitive diet. Unfortunately, my senior dog became sick with diarrhea before I realized what had happened. I’ve now had to switch brands after more than a decade of monthly purchases. I’m incredibly disappointed that a company I trusted made such a significant change without transparent communication. If your dog has allergies or sensitivities, double-check the label -this is no longer the same chicken-free formula it used to be.

I used the instinct lamb specifically on my adopted ex-breeder adopted French Bulldog because of seasonal allergies she gets on top of yearly food. For the yearly allergies she takes apoquel. For the seasonal allergies she usually gets cytopoint injections , very expensive. I wish I had taken pictures, sorry about that. She had at least 5 bumps on her skin already. I gave her a cup 2 times per day. We’re almost done with the bag and the skin bumps are gone. I chose the lamb specifically because I know she is less likely to have allergies to her food if she stays away from chicken or beef. She is currently on you prescription diet equivalent and getting the bumps with that food. I’m happy it worked as I had hoped and sad because it’s not on the market yet. From her point of view she really loves ks it. Just gobbles it down. My other dogs are so jealous and lick the bowl.
