The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

LEAD WITH RAW

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

KEEP IT REAL

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

MAKE IT SIMPLE

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

GIVE BACK

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

MAKE IT BETTER

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

ONE MILLION MEALS

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

  • Not a huge hit but they do eat it

    By on Top 500 Contributor

Since my one cat has been having mild digestive issues I took a friend's advice and sought some food without grains, fish, or legumes (allegedly common intolerances for cats), which is really hard to find. This still has many ingredients that aren't in a natural feline diet but it's free of the main problem ingredients so it'll do for our experiment to test if Smokey's issues are food related. He has been on it only a few days so it's too early to say if it's making his digestive system healthier. He is happy to eat it which is a big victory on its own, considering how fussy cats can be! The bits are very small but not too difficult to eat. I am thinking if I spread them on the floor instead Since my one cat has been having mild digestive issues I took a friend's advice and sought some food without grains, fish, or legumes (allegedly common intolerances for cats), which is really hard to find. The bits are very small but not too difficult to eat. I am thinking if I spread them on the floor instead of in a dish, picking them up might be difficult enough that it slows him down- gobbling his food too fast is another issue of his that we worry about. Time will tell if this'll be our new staple food, but at very least it seems OK, to mom's judgement and to kitty's. … more

  • Good Protein enticer

    By on

I have been sticking to Beyond dry and canned food for my 9 year old cat: Beyond wet for breakfast and dinner, but for lunch giving her a teaspoon of the Instinct and a teaspoon of Beyond dry for lunch. Seems she is adapting well to the higher protein Instinct and her playing has increased with the increased protein, which is what I was thinking her diet needed. So very very happy CHEWY carries both products!!!

  • Has something changed?

For over a year I've ordered this Nature's Variety Ultimate Protein Chicken dry food for my gang of cats from my vet's office. They loved it - all of them would eat it, even my picky eater. Then my vet stopped selling it just saying they had "issues" I assumed they meant from the vendor or supplier? But now I wonder... because I bought a first bag from Chewy.com, the EXACT recipe they have always ate. Cue the crickets to silence... not a single bite would they eat. Not even my 17 lb Maine Coon who used to LOVE this formula. So I don't know, confused on this one... a formula change? an off bad bag of food? Good news though, I went over to Taste of the Wild, Venison and Smoked Salmon For over a year I've ordered this Nature's Variety Ultimate Protein Chicken dry food for my gang of cats from my vet's office. By on

Our cat Sandy will only eat this food, she will not eat fish. And our Shih Tzu eats it as well, it is small ( the kibble ) enough for her.

  • Did the ingredients change?

    By on

I've been feeding this to my two 4yr old cats for over a year and suddenly for the past two weeks they have not really been eating it like normal. More of just picking at it. Did something change in the ingredients? Going to try the duck version.

  • High protein

    By on Top 100 Contributor

This food is higher than most kibble in protein, 47%. May not be suitable for cats with certain medical conditions. The outside of the kibble is coated with freeze dried raw chicken. All my 8 cats like this. One older cat does vomit after eating this, but she has that problem with all kibble and eats mainly wet food..

  • Makes former feral a happy cat

    By on

Our former-feral cat Littlie was not eating. He was also killing everything in the neighborhood - mice, rats, birds. I finally went to the pet store to ask about something that could make him happier. We got this on their recommendation, and now he's falling all over himself with joy every time he hears the food pour. He's gone from skinny to normal weight and hasn't killed a bird in weeks.

  • Drycatfood

    By on

My Siberian cat loves this stuff. He is a very picky eater and, although he has been fed raw since birth, he has no trouble incorporating this dry food into his diet. He scarfes it down. I then started giving it to two new kittens to eat between raw meals and they love it too! Great cat food. Great ingredients!

My Bengal loves this dry food. He hated the wet food by this company, however.
