Does original cat version update ingredients recently?

It says "Made in the USA with some of the world's finest ingredients". My question is: Are the ingredients made in the USA?

ORIJEN sources ingredients regionally and does not source ingredients directly from China, though their B vitamins are made with raw materials that originate in China. This would apply to vitamins B1, B6, and B9, and is consistent throughout the pet food industry. ORIJEN food goes through a comprehensive supplier management and verification program to ensure ingredient safety. Up to 88% of the protein will originate from animal ingredients.

Could you tell me if you use any antibiotics, hormones, or pesticides in raising the animals to make the food? Thank you for your time and l look forward to your reply.

Depending on the supplier, growth hormones may be included in the feed. ORIJEN meat ingredients are free of antibiotics. This does not mean that the animal has never received antibiotics, but that the proper withdrawal times were adhered to and the animal is free of antibiotics prior to slaughter. Antibiotics, if they are required, are administered in accordance with the FDA. Maximum residue limits for each veterinary drug are set and must be met through appropriate withdrawal times following treatment before the animal can be slaughtered.

Is this organic and gluten-free?

ORIJEN does not use GMO ingredients in any of their foods. The fruits and vegetables used in their recipes are not organic, but are sourced from a specially curated group of leading farmers. They do not use any gluten-containing ingredients in their recipes either. However, because it is possible for gluten-free grains to come into contact with gluten-containing grains post-harvest (even in microscopic amounts), they do not guarantee their kitchens are 100% gluten-free.

So this product was shipped to me by "accident". Hah! Anyway, since I had it, I thought I would feed it to my 3 cats (at the time: one elder, 2 kittens). They all loved it and happily eat it every time. I had stopped trying other dry food once I "found" this because they love it so much. On the same topic, but slightly different is that my one kitten loves it so much he eats a ton of it and comes to find me to feed him more if it runs out (all the time). I can't decide how to feel about this so I usually pour him more. They get wet food and the other cat is heathly sized. Anyway, I really like this stuff. Glad it was sent to me. Someone knew me!

As the pet food industry has begun to scare me, I've tried moving to better diets for our newest additions. Our last 2 dogs and cat just seemed to get sick on Purina and then develop cancer in later years. We're attempting to try and minimize this result, as I really believe something is off with these bigger brands. That being said, both mt cat and dog are on their own versions of Orijen and theyre nutritional balances are perfect and packed with high protein which is what every kitty needs. I also found that this particular line helped ease mt anxiety some, as ir has the recommended amount of taurine in its ingredients list. Some of their lines may be a little below that, so I went with this one as the most reliable. All around, Im happy with the quality and my little guy is too, hes always eager to eat and the food you can tell doesnt smell like something is rotting as you get to the bottom of the bags. They're great!

However, after a month of eating this he developed a crystal blockage for the first time, it is always lethal for male cats if untreated. It cost us thousands of dollars and stress. I hope one day this brand faces justice for their food composition. I have no idea what's causing it but it's not right.

I was really hoping this food would be a good option for my two cats as the ingredients were really good but unfortunately after 2 weeks of eating this food my 6 year old male cat developed a UTI. He has never had a UTI before nor any kind of urinary issues and the only change we made recently was trying out this dry food. This food obviously works for some cats but just be very careful and watch your cat's reactions closely!

I was feeding this great high end protein premium cat food thinking I was a great pet parent. Then my cat started declining. He’s only 5 years old. He went into respiratory distress, his lips turned blue and to the emergency we went. After thousands of dollars he was diagnosed with asthma, he was misdiagnosed. I had the inhalers, the aerokat and he was still in bad shape. It was funny after five years he all of sudden has asthma. I did some reading and yes I went down a rabbit hole. Come to find out this food has legumes, navy beans, pinto beans, red and green lentil, etc. Did you all know that legumes have an enzyme that attaches to taurine and prevents its absorption? No? me neither. The symptoms of dilated cardio myopathy are similar to feline asthma. I abruptly changed my cat’s diet, a big no no, but I couldn’t keep killing him. I got him on taurine supplements immediately. I have my cat back. This serves as a warning to other cat parents. GO DOWN THAT RABBIT HOLE!! It could save your fur babies. I doubt Orijen would ever admit this fatal flaw in their cat products, sadly.

I was searching for the options that both cats might like and tried the Original. Oh my! The oldest loves it! The transition was very quick without any digestive issues. Both cats enjoy it. I personally hate the fishy smell but as long as they are happy I’m happy. I need to find some wet food that both like. Seems like they hate all of it. So much money wasted. Got this for one cat with IBD/GI issues, given the ingredients and all the hype you hear about this brand. Within two days of adding in the Orijen, my poor guy’s soft stool/sometimes diarrhea was liquid and BLOODY. Every time he pooped. I stopped feeding them it immediately. And that was only with 25% Orijen mixed in with their Wellness Core. As soon as I removed the Orijen, the bloody stool stopped. Something is VERY wrong with this stuff, and I could not recommend. Nor will I ever repurchase. Which sucks because I really wanted to like this stuff, but the exorbitant price tag coupled with something VERY WRONG with the food, is enough for me to say never again.
