Has this product been tested to work on cats who have been verified as low in B12 by blood work?

Answer by Joe1HillAug 02, 2024
I don’t know if this specific product is, but methylcobalamin is very successful in reversing low b12 in humans and that has been studied heavily. Since b12 is a mammal thing and not just a human thing, it should work very similarly in cats.

What are the dosing instructions? How long does this bottle last when using it daily?

Answer by JudyApr 12, 2025
I give my cats 4 drops of the B12 every night. A bottle usually lasts about 4 weeks but keep in mind, I have 3 cats. If you have fewer cats, it will probably last longer. I don’t have any problems with them taking it. I just mix it in with their food and they nom no it right down.

Can I syringe the doses? Or does it taster nasty?

Answer by ChewyNov 29, 2022
This B12 supplement can be administered in food or water, though it’s recommended in food to get the full dosage.

Whats the shelf life of this product?

Answer by ChewyJul 15, 2023
Once opened, this supplement is good for up to 3 years, if stored properly. Unopened bottles stored in a cool cupboard will often last longer than 3 years. Store this out of direct sunlight and away from strong odors (cosmetics, medicines, spices) or electromagnetic fields (microwave, refrigerator, stereo). In other words, a cabinet is best.

My cat has chronic enteritis, which means he is frequently B12 deficient. The vets found research showing that the effectiveness of oral B12 and injected B12 is not significantly different. I give him this every day and save on vet visits and frequent blood work, not to mention the nuisance of uncomfortable shots. I tasted this stuff and it had no taste to me, so my cat did not drool and spit it up.

I bought this to address a chronic diarrhea problem in my 14 year old cat, as his vet recommended adding b12 to his diet. He’d had chronic diarrhea for 3 months (it started with pre-dental surgery antibiotics, and nothing has resolved it yet), which was at least manageable. 3 days after I started adding this to his diet, blood appeared in his stool, and he started having accidents. It may not have been the fault of this product, as he has other issues going on, but this didn’t help, at best.

Thank you so much to Chewy and Jackson Galaxy for making this very high quality form of B12 available for my kitty Marshmellow. I suffer fron B12 deficiency myself as a human so I know firsthand how important this vitamin is. The ingredients in this product are top-notch and the dropper bottle is extremely easy to use and high-quality. Very easy to measure and mix into Marshmellow's wet food and he eats it just absolutely fine. I must also add that I emailed the Jackson Galaxy team a question and a thank-you regarding this product and they replied immediately very kindly and thoroughly. Absolutely love everything about this product and I'm grateful to Jackson Galaxy and Chewy for making it so accessible and easy for me to reorder quickly when I'm getting low! Thank you!!!!

My senior diabetic cat was diagnosed with pancreatitis and IBD recently. Cats with these illness are often prone to B12 deficiency. All B12 injection supplement needs prescription, so I wanted to try the oral one first. This one is Methylcobalamin, which is easier to absorb than the Cyanocobalamin. My senior cat is a picky eater, especially when he's sick, but he takes this supplement with no problem. Just drop some into his wet foods and he will eat everything like nothing happened. Turned out his bloodwork came back and showed no signs of B12 deficiency (blood example taken before using the supplement), but I will keep using it occasionally just in case.

My 1yr old cat - Alina is an indoor cat, and having access to sun through the window is a no-no here in Louisiana, so her eyelids were beginning to look pale (for lack of sun - and all it has to offer.) This B12 fixed the problem and now it's her daily intake.

My cat, Clover, struggled with persistent diarrhea for over a year. The vet diagnosed her with IBD and while we were figuring out her medication and care plan, the vet recommended I give Clover vitamin B. Right before administering the vitamin B we were in an especially rough patch. Clover had been having nonstop diarrhea and vomiting, with blood in her stool for several weeks. We gave her antibiotics that helped firm her up a bit, but once the course completed she was back to diarrhea. Then I gave her the vitamin B and she’s had completely solid stools since. It’s been two months since and she’s still going strong. I’ve already ordered this supplement twice and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
