K9 Ballistics Tough Ripstop Dog Crate Mat, Obsidian Black, X-Large

The photo speaks for itself. Ripley, our 4 month Rottweiler, sure enough ripped through the K9 Ballistics ‘Tough Ripstop Dog Crate Mat’ in several corners. We had high hopes, considering the description and price, and were confident that this product would hold up to its name. But, it didn’t.

My puppy had lost most of his baby teeth by the time I used this with him. He tried to chew on it when I put it in his playpen, but I always redirected him; when it was in his crate, he really wasn't able to chew on it. Unfortunately, because of the material it is made out of to make it durable, it's not very comfortable. My puppy often chooses not to rest on it during the day, and he has a hard time sleeping on it at night during the summer. If you have a dog or a puppy that overheats, I would only use this if you have to. I am having my puppy use a towel in his crate during the summer instead so he doesn't get too hot. For now, I am trying to use it as a "place" mat for my puppy. I also try to have my older dog use it when her bed is in the wash, but she doesn't like it at all.

I wouldn't consider this chew-resistant much less chew-proof. I had some hopes for it given the material and the fact I had it zip-tied to the crate, but within 15 minutes, my puppy had already started tearing it apart. I've had beds a quarter of this price last longer with her, so I felt compelled to leave a review so that other pet parents don't wind up buying into the hype like I did.
