We have a small flock of 4, and I was highly recommended this food as an upgrade from our previous feed (Layena pellets) because I want to feed them the best. The ingredients sound great, it looks amazing, but the chickens pick out one, single type of grain out of the mix and leave everything else, including the pellets! Our chickens are used to pelleted food, so that's not it. I would return it, but it's an open bag of feed so I don't think I can do that. I guess we will give it away and hopefully someone else has chickens that like this kind of food.

I decided to give this version a try after using the other Henhouse Reserve, which my chickens LOVE. They don’t seem to like this one though. They pick through it and most of it ends up on the ground, especially the pellets. I’ll go back to the original.

Great quality grains.

The quality is great! Unfortunately my chickens do not like the pellets. I had to ferment the feed in order for them to eat it. They wasted too much from the gravity

This feed hits most of the marks- corn and soy free, decent price for quality ingredients, and it is organic. Where it falls short is that they use seed oil. If they switched to olive oil, this would be the perfect feed. The reason I don’t want seed oil is because too much omega 6 is unhealthy for chickens.

Good

I use this as scratch actually next to their crumble main diet. They like it for the most part but I do see them leave some of the pellet behind

I have been looking for a better feed for our chickens. We moved to an area where they can not free range due to coyotes, neighbors dogs and bears. This feed looks beautiful and smells great. Not many middlins. Our chickens love this feed for the most part. None of them seem to like the green peas! They are laying solid hard shelled eggs, orange yolks regularly.

I like the ease of ordering

I feed to my chicken mixed in with their feed. 1 bag to 3 pellets. My negative is the feed store has this cheaper and their bag is 50#

Soy and corn free. :-) Mixed response.

Bob Dan, the rooster, (lives in his own "apartment" ) thought this food was the best thing he'd ever eaten! Dives right in and cleans his bowl everyday! The Girls

Bob Dan, the rooster, (lives in his own "apartment" ) thought this food was the best thing he'd ever eaten! Dives right in and cleans his bowl everyday! The Girls (6 hens) at first thought they were being poisoned! ;-) They do manage to eat most of it, leaving the pellets for last. Their previous feed had soybeans--which NO ONE would eat.
