If my dog has a chicken allergy will the chicken fat in this food trigger it?

Answer by ChewyApr 07, 2021
KASIKS uses protein free chicken fat as it provides animals with a safe and healthy fat source. Food allergies are caused by a reaction with protein, this chicken fat will not exacerbate a chicken allergy.

HOW MANY "feeding"s a day should the dog get?

Answer by ChewyNov 08, 2018
For a complete list of daily feeding recommendations, click the "Feeding Instructions" tab, next to the "Nutritional Info" tab, just under the product photos.

Whats the meat %?

Answer by ChewyMar 07, 2022
This formula has a protein content of 25%. 65% of the protine comes from Wild Caught Herring, Anchovies & Sardines. 35% of the protein comes from vegetables.

Does MOST of the Crude Protein come from animal "meal" or veggies? What's that ratio...protein from Animal:Plant ? Both of my questions are referring to DRY DOG kibbles-Pacific Ocean food.

Answer by ChewyNov 08, 2018
60% of the protein comes from the wild caught herring, anchovies and sardines while 40% of the protein comes from the vegetables.

Wild Pacific Ocean

My daughter’s Frenchie loves this food and there are none of the issues (skin irritation, gas, etc.) that he gets from eating chicken by-products.

This food led to the death of my dog

My yellow lab Ellie had a chicken allergy and sensitive digestive system. When she was about a year old I found this food and her digestive system did great on it

My yellow lab Ellie had a chicken allergy and sensitive digestive system. When she was about a year old I found this food and her digestive system did great on it and she always liked it so I was a dedicated Kasiks customer and never tried to switch her to anything else. Fast forward 5 years, Ellie was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) after collapsing on a hike. This disease led to her premature death at age 7 after a year of medical management that involved thousands of dollars, giving 9 meds 5 times a day - luckily I’m a nurse and work from home to be able to give her the care she needed. The veterinary cardiologist that treated Ellie confirmed her condition was dietary related. There were no warning signs of Ellie’s illness until it was very severe and life threatening. Please talk with your vet and do your research on dietary related DCM and avoid foods like this that are grain-free and use peas, lentils, chickpeas as top ingredients - they could cause illness in your dog. Research is still being done to pinpoint the exact cause of DCM so food recalls have not yet taken place. Haven't turned back since

My Golden Retriever had quite a few issues when I got him as a pup. Lowered eyelids, teary eyes, etc. I tried several beef and chicken based kibble, and finally settled on removing that out of his diet and went exclusively fish. We settled on Kasiks and never looked back. In his 1 year check up, his vet was even surprised how his eyes have changed (initially recommending procedures that would've been $$$ when he was younger). I realize there are still some chicken in Kasiks, but a small amount is good I think so build familiarity and resistance to any allergens. Oh and his poops are fantastic. Great product.

Delicious Food

My 10 1/2 year old Lab mix is a bit fussy liking dry food. She immediately started eating this food.

doesn't like it

Dog is a 9 year old Jack Russel in good health so far. He's been acting depressed and just doesn't like eating his food unless I put something in it to entice him

Dog is a 9 year old Jack Russel in good health so far. He's been acting depressed and just doesn't like eating his food unless I put something in it to entice him to eat it, like eggs or something meaty or fatty. Has't seemed to affect him health-wise, but he just doesn't like it. He'll go at least a day or more without eating until he truly is just hungry enough at night and he knows the gig is up for the day, and then he'll eat right before he knows it's bedtime. He gets a few tidbits from husband during day, so is spoiled somewhat, but still is expected to eat his dog food, bottom line.

Chicken Fat

Beware that if you want a one protein dog food, this has chicken fat in it. As I'm trying to eliminate all but one protein, I'll need to eat the cost of this food

Beware that if you want a one protein dog food, this has chicken fat in it. As I'm trying to eliminate all but one protein, I'll need to eat the cost of this food but it's my bad, I didn't read the ingredients closely enough. Also, just FYI, this is a very high calorie dog food so you'll be feeding less. If you don't need a one protein food I'm sure this is a good food, reading other reviews.
