Question about the ingredients....?
By My3dogs on Oct 25, 2020
We have 3 dogs in various sizes, so big bags of dog food is a must in our wolfpack!! We saw this brand at our local store which is cheaper then chewy but they don't deliver to your door like chewy does so the extra cost not a big deal. They seem to like it, but the littlest pup is kinda having loose stool. I'm not sure if it's from the change of food or the ingredients. Time will tell.....What does concerne me is it says it is made in the USA with no by-products, artificial colors or chemical preservatives.... But when reading the ingredients it says Chicken By-Product Meal (Source Of Glucosamine And Chondroitin Sulfate), Natural Flavors...... This is very confusing and conflicting info We have 3 dogs in various sizes, so big bags of dog food is a must in our wolfpack!! I don't normally write reviews often but I just HAVE to with this. I own three yes three Great Danes and one crazy Irish setter. The Danes I have struggled with diarrhea and lose stools ever since I got them. All different breeders so not genetic. I tried EVERYTHING! Purina pro plan, purina pro plan sensitive, Diamond naturals chicken, diamond naturals beef, several others but the only one that SEEMED to help some was diamond naturals lamb and rice. Well it helped the two Danes but not the others. A breeder suggested several times I give this a try since I could buy it at the local hardware store near me for 30.00 a bag. I thought no way would a cheaper food with corn etc help my dogs. This I don't normally write reviews often but I just HAVE to with this. I own three yes three Great Danes and one crazy Irish setter. Let me tell you within 24 hours it was like the heavens opened and smiled finally down on my poor pups. All had solid stools only pooping twice a day now and thriving! If you have been going through what I have don't over think. least try the small bag and see if it helps. This was a God send for my Danes. The lady that suggested it has nine! And she said this was the only one that works well for hers. I over thought way too much looking for something that was perfect ingredients and the perfect protein etc. Thank you black gold! … more

Performance Blend Please!
By birddog on Dec 28, 2019
I like the 26/18 formula for my very active/hyper 2 year old black lab. What I don't like is not being able to find an expiration date on any of the 50-lb bags I've bought. I think one bag went or was bad cuz my dog would not touch it. So I started buying four 15-lb bags of Black Gold 'Performance Blend' which have an expiration date on them, my theory being that I could use up one 15-lb bag in a week while keeping the others sealed and fresh. Sorry to say, Chewy has been out of the 'Performance Blend' 15-lb bags for some time now so I'm assuming that it isn't made anymore as Chewy now offers the more expensive 15-lb bag of Black Gold Explorer Original Performance 26/18 Dry Dog Food instead..
