  • One of the better kaytee products

Anyone who keeps rats and researches rat care products knows that many of the food mixes and treats that kaytee sells are not the best or the healthiest options for small pets. In the cases of some of their feed mixes they'll include things like hard dry corn kernals which are only safe for rats in their soft, wet form (raw or cooked). When it isn't items in their mixes that are straight up TOXIC to rats, it's just sugary high fat treats mixed in that the rats dig out while ignoring & neglecting to eat the healthy important nutritional ingredients in the mix. They love to play in and and around them, and the roof is a favorite spot to take a nap i've noticed. They also provide something for your rats to chew on and keep their teeth at the appropriate length. Rat teetg grow an average of FOURTEEN INCHES EVERY YEAR so it's absolutely essential to load their habitats with stuff that they like to chew on. … more

  • Really well made

I was so excited to get this for my guinea pig but, as with nearly everything that is new, he didn't like it. It wasn't due to the product - it's a very generous size, unfinished so I knew it would be ok if he gnawed on it (he did), and sturdy. When I pushed him into it he went, and looked out the window at me, but he's a funny little guy and still prefers his old purple plastic igloo.

  • Piggie loves looking out the window!

Cody, our beloved guinea pig, is a senior citizen at 5 1/2 years old and not so fond of change now. His old hidey-house did not have a window and we weren't sure if he would like this new design.... He loves it! There is nothing cuter than a guinea pig's little face and seeing it peeking out of the window is adorable!!!

  • Not only for guinea pigs!

My chinchilla loves it. It is holding up better than a chinchilla hut that I bought that had to be assembled and was thin. She chews all her houses of course but it will last longer.

  • Rats and Hamsters love it!

It seems to be really comfortable for my rodents, my hamsters enjoy packing it with bedding to build a tunnel and sleep in and my rats love to chew on it and cuddle inside it

  • It’s great except in my case...

This house is amazing and my pigs love it... a little too much. I have 3 naughty girls and they eat it, and sadly jump off it. Evidently it’s not supposed to be ingested and pigs spines get messed up if they jump. The other thing is, its meant for a single pig which should NEVER BE ALONE. If you’re using it for multiple pigs like you should be doing, it’s not exactly suitable. All hides and tunnels need atleast 2 exits in case of fights, the little window is not an exit, only the door is. Therefore, we had to cut another door into the back!:)

  • My chinchillas love these huts!

Great space for my girls. I acadently ordered the large instead of x-large, but my single chinchilla loves it anyways. They stand up to their excessive chewing

  • It depends

I recently bought this for my guinea pig. He had a house connected to the cage, but it was hard to get to him when he ran and hid. I thought this was way bigger than it really was. My guinea pig is not a fan, and would rather knock it around out of annoyance and gnaw on the sides (he even has chews). Its just not roomy, but then again my guinea pig is a big boy. If you had a small baby guinea pig, rat or big hamster, they would love it. But, as far as chubby adult guinea pigs, I'm afraid not. This is still a wonderful product, very hard and solid and can be sturdy if an animal wasn't trying to climb it and throw it around. Overall a great house, just not for adult guinea pigs.

  • I recommend it unless your piggies jump

    By on

It is really great and lasted a while, but the only problem was that my guinea pigs kept jumping on top of it and peeing on it. Knowing that jumping is bad for guinea pigs' spines, I had to take it out because every time they would jump on it! But I know not everybody has such naughty piggies, and I love how it is wood because all the other ones are plastic, so this is a nice product if you piggies don't jump.
