Use Ketogenic Pet Foods as a singular food for a meal, or as a supplemental food. To avoid digestive disturbances, mix with the present diet beginning at about 10% and then gradually increase proportions.
After one of our cats was diagnosed with diabetes, we switched from high carb dry food to canned food, but our cats missed their dry kibble. I heard about this pet food and tried it. It was actually less expensive than the diet we were feeding. We mix it in with their canned food and they love it. We told our veterinarian about Keto Kibble and he is very interested and said he will do more research and possibly recommend it to his clients with diabetic pets.
I bought this for my diabetic cat but neither of my cats will touch it. A waste of money.
I use this as one of a blend of dry foods to boost the protein content. My cats eat it without hesitation.
So far so good. I fed Dr. Elsey's chicken kibble along with wet food to my cats for several years. After Dr. Elsey's changed suppliers and where the food was made my cats started getting sick with diarrhea and vomiting. I was heart broken because that food was one of only a couple that was low carb and species appropriate (with exception of a few ingredients I could live without) for a dry food for a cat. I've tried Young Again in the past and the cats soon tired of it. So far my cats love and can tolerate a little of Ketogenic kibble in their diet and they are so happy to get it. I'm thrilled! I wish it was closer to 1% phos per dry matter base than 1.4% Phosphorous but it isn't too bad since I feed low phos wet food for most of the diet and it still averages out closer to 1%. Please keep making it!
For some reason I can’t get my dog to eat it?? He ate the first serving and now completely refuses to eat anymore. I don’t know what the problem is. But it’s money wasted for me. Hope it works for you.
I wanted to like this brand :( but the kibble is round, small and very dry and my cat can’t chew it so he just swallows it. Another reviewer said this as well. I read it can cause digestive upset so I now soak it for him every day, in an hour it’s soft and easily chewable and he seems to be doing fine with it that way. He often sniffs it and walks off then later comes back and eats it. I won’t be buying it again but looking for another brand with similar ingredients.
Looking for a high-protein cat food, I read the other reviews and tried this one. Yes, my cats did seem to want to eat this, so the flavor is enticing. However, the kibbles are SO HARD that they could not chew them. I know my older cat was simply swallowing the kibbles whole because he has limited teeth. I couldn't even cut a morsel in half with a knife! I tried soaking them in water, but it took a good 15-20 min. to soften enough to cut in half. Not worth the time and effort, and I want a food that is not difficult for my cats to eat. I will not buy this one again.
This food is amazing if you're looking for something with a low glycemic index that can be fed to dogs or cats. I use it mixed with individual pet foods for my two cats and dog, it is a great foundation to any feeding program.
My cat's vet is concerned he is becoming diabetic, and wants him on a low-carb diet. The problem is that he is EXTREMELY picky! I have tried dozens of wet, raw, and freeze-dried foods that would all be healthy choices, but he refused to eat them. Then I stumbled upon this food, and honestly I thought the name sounded super gimmicky, and I'm always skeptical of any food that claims to be for cats and dogs. But, I have been so pleasantly surprised! My cat LOVES it! I only added a tiny bit into his old dry food that he barely will even eat, and he ran up to the bowl and started devouring it!
I have been looking everywhere for low-carb food options for my cats. I switched them to canned food a few months ago after one of the four had a borderline high blood sugar reading, but they grew up on kibble and are fussy about eating canned consistently. I was a little scared to try this because of the price but it is less expensive than the other lower-carb or "raw" options, so I thought I'd give it a shot. We've only been feeding it for a couple of weeks now but so far, so good-they all seem to like it and we've only had one instance of tummy upset which I think was just because one of my boys sometimes wolfs too much food down too fast. It doesn't seem to be causing any issues with loose stools or anything. Waiting to see longer-term how they react (hoping a couple of them might slim down a bit!) and in particular how the blood sugar readings go, but would definitely encourage others to give this a try. I also really like that it comes in a nice resealable foil bag-not that it will be hanging around very long with 4 hungry cats but it does have a lot of good oils in it that I want to stay fresh.
