Great product

This is by far the best balancer. My senior mini would have laminitis flare ups, since he's been on this he had been doing amazing.

Since he doesn't get a lot of grain in warm months, we weaned our senior horse slowly onto the Keyflow USA Golden Oldies feed over a period of about 6 weeks. Despite missing several teeth, he chewed and digested the feed well and his manure looks healthy. We typically struggle to keep weight on this horse but he has maintained his weight throughout this feed trial and has had no episodes of choke (which he's experienced with other feeds). He has also remained perfectly sound for lessons and trail rides (several times weekly) without needing any extra injections for arthritis. We are considering switching him permanently to this specialty feed, since he seems to tolerate it well and the DHA is likely benefitting his joint health. As long-time horse owners we'd recommend that anyone with a senior horse should certainly give this feed a try, we are giving it 4 stars for now because specialty feeds are very expensive, and although it seemed to benefit his health over this short-term trial period, until we switch him permanently we won't know if if this formulation is beneficial for him over the long term.

I am always cautious about feeding or supplementing my 30 year old quarter horse. Always happy to find something thats doesnt colic her. Annie is definitely at an age she is needing something extra to get her by. She weighs in about 1000 + pounds. She gets laminitis periodically- and her bones creak and pop! Sometimes its hard to keep weight on her as well. So we are using this starting off as a supplement. It’s supposed to be used as a mash, we already give her a mash of timothy hay pellets mixed with water, so we added the “Golden Oldies” right to that! She eats it all. And has not had any issues with stomach or taste. As we feed this for a longer time, i will try to update how she is doing on it.

I was eager to try this product because it seems to match my horses needs. I have two 23 year old mares, both with metabolic issues, and both at risk for laminitis. My Quarter Horse is chunky and has insulin resistance. My Rocky Mountain Horse is lean, has PPID (Cushings), and is a picky eater. First off, this is a MASH (meant to be soaked), and a BALANCER (meant to balance a grass/hay diet). It is very low sugar and starch (super for my mares!), and I love that it has pre- and probiotics for a healthy gut. Also included are amino acids to prevent muscle wasting that often occurs in the older horse. My Rocky is losing her top line (muscles along the top of the spine), so that will be a great benefit to her. There is a funny smell to the feed; not spoiled, just a bit odd - perhaps from the turmeric. I really thought my picky eater would reject it, but nope! She liked it! I do not however, feed it alone; I soak alfalfa cubes for my mares anyway, so it is added to that. As other reviewers mentioned, my horses would perhaps not eat it by itself. The feeding instructions on the bag are in grams/kilograms, but it works out to about a pound of dry feed for the average 1,000 pound horse. I have only been feeding this for about two weeks, so I wouldn’t expect to see any changes yet. I am intending on trying it for a couple of months to see how it goes for my girls.

I like the natural ingredients in this mash. It is a mash so you are supposed to add 2 parts water with 1 part mash and let it sit 15 minutes before feeding. I have two old horses, 28 and 32, so I thought it would be a good fit for them. My bay gobbled it up. He seems to love it and it's probably good for him since he has bad teeth. My chestnut wouldn't touch it. He's finicky with most foods so I'm not surprised. I wish this product was a product of the USA and not the UK as I like to support businesses in my country.

This is an intriguing product and I was hopeful that it might provide a benefit to my two small equine friends. The Keyflow mash is shaped in nuggets that within 15 minutes turns into a mash. The product was fresh. The product has a lot of turmeric in it with a very strong odor of the spice. My two would not eat it when I provided them with a small sample of the mash. I have given the remainder of the bag to a friend to try with her older horses and will hope that they will eat it and benefit from it.

So its good for her and she loves it! Easy on her stomach and helps her health- how can you beat that??!!! It is expensive- but i am using it as a supplement so maybe we can continue it!!!

I wasn't very happy with this product. All three of my horses turned their noses up to it and walked away. I was able to get one of my horses to eat it eventually but she would only eat it once. I tried four different times to feed them this feed, but it didn't seem like they like the smell of the feed. I tried to give it to my goats and they didn't like it either because of the smell.

Our horse peppy isn’t usually very picky but at first he was very picky about this but now he’s all about it. I’ve had to put in a “peppy” proof container because he would eat this until it was gone. This has been very good for him and he’s actually getting more energy and he hasn’t been like this for a very long time.
