Suction cups don't work
I have a love/hate relationship with this thing because my cats super love it.. but the top two suction cups just will not stay up consistently no matter what I try. One of my cats refuses to get on it anymore even when it is up because it fell when he jumped on it once and I think the experience traumatized him. If I could go back and buy a different window shelf, I could. That being said I have gotten decent use out of it. I couldn't advise buying it to anyone though.
Potentially Dangerous! :(
I hate to have to leave a negative review, because my cats adored this product before it broke. It was great for the first 1.5 months, until the wire frame broke, both sending my cat falling to the floor, and exposing a sharp piece of metal that could have hurt him very badly if he had been scratched by it or fell on it on the way down. Thankfully, he is okay. But it concerns me to think that the wire can snap so easily. If I cat were frail or elderly, the sudden fall could be enough to cause a lot of harm, let alone the danger of the sharp, exposed metal. I hope this is a defect with just mine, but I feel the need to leave this review just in case this is a defect with the product as a whole.
great idea; cheap suction
I wanted to love this. The first several tries to put it up, it fell within hours - like fell off the window by all but 1 suction cup. I wanted to return it but got busy. Eventually, I tried again after the windows were all washed thoroughly and it stuck! The cats LOVED it! But just as they started to trust it, the top suction cups started to fail again. Are you kidding me? This is dangerous! How long until they fall again? Considering that the suction cups screw onto the window, they should stick better.
My cats LOVE this thing!
They are on it all the time! The only recommendation I have if you're getting one, is to put it in a window that's not your bedroom. It took some getting used to in our room because it squeaks a bit at night if they shift around on it. So we'd wake up like, "what the heck is that noise?!" But after 2 weeks, I rarely wake up to the sound. It's a great overall buy!
Suction Fail
This cat shelf fits my window perfectly, and when I was able to entice one of my cats to jump up on it, he adopted it as a great place to be. However, after three days, the suction cups that hold the shelves up failed causing him to be tumbled to the floor. I followed the directions for attaching the cups exactly, warming the suction cups in 160° water and cleaning my window and the suction cups with rubbing alcohol. So, I have hung the straps on hooks that I installed on the window frame, which works well but was not suggested in the instructions. Another advantage to using the window frame is that I can open the top window. So far the suction cups that attach each shelf to the lower window are holding. And my cat is happily snoozing on the shelf again.
First days a pain, but alright now
The first couple days the 2 cups with the knob and strap kept coming off, as well as one of the regular suction cups. The lower level collapsed twice with my 5 month old kitten. I had to moisten them to make them stay. They haven’t come off since then.
Only lasted a month in my home…
I bought this in 2019 and set up on my window and it only lasted a month with my two cats… they did meet the weight limit and I followed all instructions to set it up… it just didn’t work. However I did end up make shifting these perches in my cats cage and tying them to the writers and they did hold my cats and lasted for about a year. Then the end of 2020 I did unfortunately get rid of them…
falls with 9 pound cat on it
This product has fallen twice and dumped my 9 pound cat on the floor. The top suction cups do not hold even though I have done everything recommended to stick them to the window. Would not recommend, can't believe it is listed as being able to hold 100 pounds.
Cats love it!
Wasn’t sure if my cats would like this but I took a chance and they love it! Glad I got it, there isn’t a day when I have seen one of them using it.
Suction cup stopped sticking
I’ve had this installed since 3/29/23 and it worked great, the cats love it! However, as I write this on 6/1/23, over the last couple days the left suction cup keeps popping off and will not stay. I’ve wiped the window clean multiple times with Windex, wiped the suction cup clean with Windex as well. Each time I reinstall it, I give it a hard tug and it feels solid, it won’t move. But after an hour or two, without fail I’ll find the the left cup dangling. It’s a shame because our two cats love it and often spend most of the day chilling on it.
