Do you recommend running the cord through a metal pipe to keep it encased so it doesn't flop around?

Does this go in the water? Or under the bucket?

The Ultimate Bucket Heater is only designed to be plugged in when it is submerged in water. It will not turn off automatically if there is no water. Never plug the unit in unless the heating element is completely submerged in water. Otherwise, the unit will be damaged.

What are the cycle on/cycle off temperatures?

Internal thermostats automatically monitor water temperature and turn the unit on and off to keep the average water temperature just above freezing. The unique technology ensures that your de-icer will only run as often as needed.

Works in Plastic Bucket

I have 20 gallon plastic tub for water. This heater works well but did freeze pretty hard when we had negative temperatures. Otherwise it works great.

Sinkable

I use this in a 5 gallon bucket for my birds. We've had several nights of 20 - 30 degrees and it keeps the whole bucket from freezing! Totally worth it!

Kept water from freezing

We have this in a small shallow stock tank that we keep to provide water to wildlife. Our last hard freeze went down to 4 degrees and the water remained unfrozen
