Can this be used for my dachshund?

I have 2 house kittens, who have never been on a leash or harness. How should I go about helping them to adjust to your harnesses

Answer by ChewyMay 23, 2019
When first showing your cat the harness, allow them to sniff and play with it before attempting to put it on. While spending time with or in the harness, give them plenty of treats to reinforce positive associations. Once you buckle the harness, allow your cat to move around the house freely and get comfortable before attaching a leash or attempting to explore outdoors.

What happens if a cat pulls backwards in this harness? In a traditional H harness, by hunching shoulders, my cat can escape. Does this harness have that flaw?

This award-winning walking vest is easy to put on but difficult for your cat to get out of on his own.

What is the material on the inside of the harness? We have a sphinx kitten and want to make sure it's soft for his skin. Thanks!

My cat loves to walk and be outdoors with me. However, we have many coyotes, bob cats, mountain lions etc. I have tried many harness's and first only testing it out in our backyard and he could always get out of them. This one is a winner!!!!!! Easy to put on, super strong Velcro connection and nothing over the head and no straps to adjust. Kudos to this product. I adopted my boy at age 5 from a rescue and he was used to being outside. Now he can safely be outside with me.

This harness is a great shape for her long body, it seems comfortable for her, and it's very sturdy should she try to pull away when on a leash. This is the second Kitty Holster harness I've purchased because they really work.

It seemed easy to harness train my cat. The velcro tabs make it easy to get on (no having to fumble with a buckle). It fits securely so I'm not worried about kitty escaping. I take it very slowly when I pull apart the velcro as the noise initially scared kitty----however, he's grown accustomed to it and it no longer bothers him. I highly recommend this harness to other cat owners : )

My 8 year old black male is huge; he ways almost 20 pounds and is not fat. I am slowly introducing him the the halter. It has been around his neck which was okay; now come his girth! I have put the holder were he sleeps and he puts his paws on it. We will get there. BTW: a regular not escape halter was not escape proof!!!!

Easy Peasy and PURRR-fect Way to Prevent Bored Cats

This product is very well made and easy to put on. I had no trouble getting her to wear it and now when I say to the dog do you wanna go for a walk she is starting to walk over to me. lol!! Make sure it’s not too big or it’s like a straight jacket and the cat goes very stiff. I exchanged it for a smaller one which only goes to her midriff which allows more movement. She still doesn’t have as much mobility with it on, but it’s a good thing since she can just walk around slowly and discover nature right in our backyard. She is just happy just standing and watching the birds. It prevents boredom. She cannot jump or move around very much with it on. She is getting more used to it the more we use it. If you think you are going to be able to walk your cat like you’d walk a dog, you are mistaken. I feel like I could even drop the leash and she wouldn’t go anywhere since again really has limited mobility but it’s the perfect product to be able to bring your indoor cat out in your fenced in yard. The only issue is now she goes to the door all the time and wants me to take her out. She loves going outside with me. Happy cat happy wife. Or something like that!

Velcro + cat hair?

Augie prefers open harnesses, I guess. He has never had a problem, but this one had him walking like a ferret - middle on the ground and slithering like a snake

Augie prefers open harnesses, I guess. He has never had a problem, but this one had him walking like a ferret - middle on the ground and slithering like a snake. He got over it, but was still unhappy with how stiff the back is and how high the collar is - picture your HS football coach in a suit (choke, choke, gag). And really, Velcro and cat hair? Really?

Even though I followed the instructions to go very slow with letting the cat sleep with it & have treats while I laid it on her back and days later progressed to securing the neck Velcro I noticed that it comes up too high on my cat’s neck. Maybe she has a shorter neck than average. I started over agin with just laying it on her back but she wouldn’t allow that even with lots of treats. Sadly doesn’t work for us.

Cat slipped right out

... when I had the harness attached to a leash. He simply turned around and the harness slipped right over his head.
