is the bottom of the unit mesh? If so will the cat's claws in mesh be a problem?

The bottom of the enclosure is made of mesh. The bottom should be laid flat onto the ground while in use so, the cat will be walking on the ground. Cats should not be left unattended or unsupervised in this enclosure.

They fall apart

The synthetic material they use breaks down when exposed to UV the sunshine. Mine lasted 2 seasons before the sun turned what holds the netting together brittle

The synthetic material they use breaks down when exposed to UV the sunshine. Mine lasted 2 seasons before the sun turned what holds the netting together brittle. There Customer Service would not return an email or call crickets from them.

Years ago, I used to build my own kitty outside enclosures for outside the windows of the house.. My cats spent nice days out there enjoying the birds, trees and neighbors' dogs w/out getting lost, hurt, fleas, just fresh air.. I covered it, too so that they could be out there if it were raining and put a litter box there, too. I may buy one or more of these and save myself the work of building as I am getting on in years.. I've never had a cat that didn't want to go out in the safety of the enclosure.

Great idea!

I have a colony of 9 semi-feral cats who love the Kittywalk. The kittens play inside, sleep inside and even sleep on the top of the Kittywalk all curled up together

I had a Kittywalk about 10 years ago. That thing lasted for years. I even left it outside through Wisconsin winters. It’s a very nice enclosure. I just bought my second one. My cats love it. They can be on the deck and can see the sky and all around them, but they are safe. I highly recommend this item. I even saved the little roof cover from my old one and am using it with the new one. I highly recommend Kittywalk. There are tons of configurations you can get too. This was my first experience with Chewy too, and it was a fantastic experience. Very nice and very quick delivery.
