After reading that this system was designed for a deck or patio in the questions, I decided to give it a try. When laying out the parts, I quickly noticed the middle tower support rod (3 loops unevenly spaced) was different than the parts list showed (2 loops about one inch in from each end). When we finished assembling the tower, we found that, possibly in part due to the misplacement of the loops on the supporting bar, the supplied bungie cords would not hold the tower stablizing legs outward in the correct position and they swung toward the middle; thus, offering no extra stability for the tower. Thinking we had an incorrect part - called provided customer service number. Inventor's husband assured me they NEVER had this question or problem in the 18 years of marketing the product. Best he could suggest was to buy tent stakes and try staking the legs (to my patio??). Contacted Chewy who promptly sent a second system (greatly appreciate their customer service). Unfortunately, this system has the same support bar issue as the first. I will not use the tower piece as it seems VERY unstable/unsafe without the stabilization legs in the correct position. While I may use the adjoining walkway tunnel piece; this greatly cuts down on the play space I hoped for and could have been purchased separately for less than half of the money I spent on this larger piece.
One of the pieces (the A piece) was missing a ridge to keep it in place, the mesh is very flimsy and a cat could easily get out and/or knock it over and get hurt if they're big enough, even if they're being supervised. Instructions are also very difficult to read and understand.
I bought this item 20 years ago. It remained outside the entire time. Looked new until the day I gave it away. Had it on cement for years and then on sand. I cut a hole in the top back of the tower and put a mesh section of tunnel from a separate kitty toy so the cats could go from my window directly into the tower. It worked perfectly. I had a Maine coon and a partly feral cat. The feral cat became more calm and docile after being inside for six months. He couldn’t get out of this wonderful item. They would take turns napping in the cabana on hot sunny days. It was the feral cats favorite spot. My Maine coon liked the top shelf/resting spot in the tower. I highly recommend this item. Worth every penny! Lasts and lasts in the rain and snow doesn’t rust it. the coverings provide excellent shade in the summer. If you’re in the mountains, you don’t want to leave the kitties out there unattended for hours because a wild animal could harm them. Even another 25 pound cat used to lay in the cabana at times. And the other two were 12 pounds and 15 pounds
Kittywalk, please include complete instructions with larger pieces, like the tower. I did see the instructions on line but I don't have a printer. My internet connection was not working when the box was delivered. Chewy, thanks for the best price.
Made very cheaply parts do not fit together correctly hard time sending it back
