Way to long to deliver

My order took almost two weeks to get to my house. I had to go out and buy chicken food. This was way to long especially in a time when you can get most anything

Pellets too big

My hens love the other formulation (Super Egg) sold by this compy, so they were sad to get this giant pellets and refused to eat them. Sad.

Watch it!!

Welp- I was in love with this feed despite Chewy never having it in stock when my auto ship was ready until I read about the dangers of too much calcium for roosters

Welp- I was in love with this feed despite Chewy never having it in stock when my auto ship was ready until I read about the dangers of too much calcium for roosters. I posed the question, and they just say it's formulated for laying hens. I'll say every one of my Heritage breeds loves this feed, and despite a June 8 hatch date, my 11 ladies are laying ALL winter!! I collect 8-11 eggs a day with the strongest shells ever. But, for all those who are raising natural flocks pasturing and have a rooster living with your ladies-apparently it's BUYER BEWARE!! These folks just make the food, they obviously don't raise chickens themselves or they'd know roosters often live with their ladies to protect them from predators and it's not like you can prevent them from eating whatever they want. The reason I asked was because any chicken educational material with tell you to leave a bowl of grit and a bowl of oyster shell available and hens will eat it when they need it. So, my question was really like hey-do roosters only eat what they need-or are they eating that tiny ground shell that's in the feed bag? It's winter and I have no idea who's eating what; I was trying to rely on sound expertise from those who manufacture and sell the product I pay 2x more for bc the ingredients sounded excellent, and these past 3-4 months my pullets ate and started laying like total champs-we have cold winters in the Midwest up near Lake Erie, and the days have been short!! Even with a maximum of 7.5-8 hrs of sunlight the young ladies started cranking the eggs out and they're still at it. Alas, I'm going to have to find a feed that's safe for their protector too since they had to give me a blanket generic answer I already know!!!! Too bad. Bottom line is this: Better BEWARE if you have a rooster or two bc they insinuate this food is for hens only, and too much calcium can cause kidney failure in any chicken, especially roosters; but, if you only have hens and you're looking for a tasty food that has added oyster shell for super strong shells, this food is well worth it! You can expect to increase your egg production all year. If you have Speckled egg layers, Easter eggers, brown heritage layers, green Queens, you'll be so impressed with the size and vibrant colors of your super tough eggshells. I've dropped eggs, and even those that crack stay in tact so I can cook them. You'll get top dollar if you're selling your eggs. Just be VERY wary when it comes to your resident rooster. That's all I've got to say. Just wish they'd have known if roosters don't eat oyster shell like hens who don't need it. Too risky... Have to find another safer food option until spring then then can get outside and start free range pasturing again. Then maybe, just maybe it's ok.
