Is this a Velcro close on the belly? Why the zipper in front?

This sweater features an adjustable neck zipper that provides a custom fit. It also allows access to harness/collar attachments. It includes a soft hook and loop closure will resist fur build up.

This sweater does not stretch. While it will give a little bit like all clothing material, it is not designed with stretchy fabric.

Excellent for use over a harness

I was drawn to this dog sweater because of the zipper area for the harness. My dog is blind and wears a harness with a handle for us to help him around. I can put the sweater over his harness and still access the harness handle via the zipper area on the back of the sweater. And since he sleeps on the floor, he has some added warmth at night. But as other reviews have stated, the velcro is sub par. I also feel this runs a little big around the girth. The back length is perfect.

This was a gift for my daughter's dog. They live out of state. The XL was too big. The Large size was a little long and hung a little loose around the neck but we were afraid the M size would be too tight/small. Otherwise, the jacket looks good on her and will keep her warm on these chilly days.

However, it still cut a little close to preventing my male dog from peeing but I just velcro it at an angle. The bigger issue is that it got a rip along one of the seams after only wearing it a couple of times! (And my dog is a mellow chihuahua - he wasn't doing anything active that would have made this happen)....

Very useful for my very short-coated dog at the in-between-weather season. Medium fits well for a rescued hound about the size of a dainty-sized Vizsla. But the red is a bit washed out and pinkish, so I don't recommend that color. (My jet black girl looks gorgeous in a lovely ruby red, so this was a disappointment.)
