About Kurgo Gear

Kurgo believes that your dog deserves to go everywhere you go, safely and comfortably. Way back in the early 2000s, before dog travel gear was a thing, Kurgo set out to solve a problem: how to keep the family dog from jumping in the front seat of the car. After lots of brainstorming and prototypes, their Backseat Barrier was born. Twenty plus years later, they’re still finding new ways for you and your dog to go together in confidence.

Is just the bottom waterproof or the whole thing?

Answer by ChewyJun 18, 2019
The entire bed is made out of a waterproof material.

Would a large be a better size for my standard poodle, or should I go with a medium?

Answer by ChewyJul 10, 2019
We recommend measuring your pet to find the perfect bed size. Pets who curl up to sleep can fit on a smaller bed, while pets who stretch out need a larger bed. To determine the ideal bed length, measure your pet in his or her normal sleeping position, then add 4-6 inches for cats and small dogs, or 8-12 inches for medium to large dogs. When in doubt, we suggest ordering the bigger size.

Does this roll up small enough for my 50lb Australian Shepherd to carry it in his pack on backpacking trips? If we camp we're hiking in at least 4 miles first. Thanks.

Answer by ChewyOct 11, 2018
When rolled up the Medium size measures 12.5 x 8 inches and the Large measures 17 x 9.5 inches.

I was excited about this travel bed that was recommended to me and I was using it for a month, all inside, to work on some Control Unleashed exercises. But the fabric does not hold up :(. If your dog does any “nesting” behavior AT ALL before lying dog, do not get this bed. I have three medium size retrievers (about 30-35lbs) - ages 14, 10 and 5. I still have every dog bed, raised bed, blanket, sleeping bag and crate pad I have ever purchased for the dogs still in excellent condition, as well as way too many stuffed toys that have survived use by all three dogs. So I was initially not concerned about reviews talking about rips. My dogs are not destructive in any way. But just one time doing a little nesting scratching before circling to lie down and the material tore and the stuffing is ready to come out. If you have an extremely low key dog, I’m sure it will work nicely for you - but it’s a waste of a lot money if it’s going to get any kind of pawing.

These beds are exactly what I was looking for! This bed has a nylon top, so debris will brush off, and the bottom is a tough rubber-like material. We’ll use these at the campsite, in the car during travel, and even in the backyard as a pad for us humans. The larger size was actually less money than the smaller, so my Scotties have LOTS of room to stretch out at the campsite.

We bought one of these for my previous Service Dog, and she loved her outdoor bed! So when that one had fallen apart (after 10 years of use!), I looked for that same exact bed, and here it is, on Chewy.com. My present Service Dog LOVES his Kurgo outdoor dog bed, too, and so do I. It provides enough padding, but not so much that it's hard for an older dog to get up and off of it. It has a textured rubberized bottom layer that helps it stay in place. And it seems to tolerate the occasional intense thunderstorm here in Tampa Bay. (Normally I put the dog bed under the awning so it doesn't get soaked, but occasionally I forget to bring it in!) LOVE THIS DOG BED for OUTDOORS!!!

This was a nice travel bed for the back of my car. My dog layer on it and was quite comfortable. It was weather proof to a point. The bottom layer was like a heavy woven burlap so it was good for temporary ground cover for family outdoor relaxation. I put it out on our deck while sitting out there so our dog could relax there too. It was a bit bulky for washing, but I made it work. The cover is nylon so that sometimes got rips in it and the stuffing in it was polymers ( like cotton ball type)not foam. Was a nice bed!!

These are terrific travel beds. They roll up conveniently and they have Velcro rather than buckles that make an uncomfortable spot underneath. I love the rugged fabric of the cover and the nonslip backing - I don’t think it will wear or tear easily. There are similar cheaper options out there but the Kurgo is my personal favorite.

Great Bed!

Love the durability. My dog is picky about beds and took to it right away. Ordered a large for my 35-40lb Boykin Spaniel. Probably could have done with a medium
