As long as the water cycle is on warm (unless there's blood on the pad, then cold-water cycle) you can use any detergent or softener of your choice.
How often to they have to be throw away and replaced? I go through lots of disposable ones

The length of time these last can vary based on the amount of use and how they are maintained. We suggest that Lennypads are not dried on a high setting as it can damage the vinyl barrier. To extend the life of your Lennypads the best practice is to hang or air dry the pad.
what are the measurements of the pads?

The X-Large pad measures 24 inches long by 36 inches wide and is recommended for pets 20-30 pounds. The Jumbo pad measures 48 inches long x 48 inches wide and is recommended for pets over 40 pounds.
Is there a way to know if or when my dog has went on the pad to know to wash it?
