    This works!

By Trex on Aug 30, 2020

Our dog trainer recommended this product to us. Our 5 year old Corgi had developed a fear of Fire Works (July was brutal for her) as well as Thunder. We had already tried thunder jackets and got marginal relief. We gave Licks to our dog about 1/2 hour before the weather reported storms. Turned on music (as usual) and she noticed the thunder but was not panicked as usual. This seems to really help her with the anxiety of thunder and storms. Thanks so much!

    We've Tried Most

By Trippet on Mar 15, 2020 Top 500 Contributor

I spent Hours comparing ingredients between products one day and ordered several items to try them out. I ignored items with repeat ingredients in "dosages" that differed slightly. So, Licks Littles (for the small dog), Licks Zen (for the md dog), Dr. Harvey's Relax & Stress, VetriScience Composure Behavioral Health Bite-sized bacon . . ., Zesty Paws Advanced Calming Bites, Xanax. Out of all of these I'd rate them thusly, from most effective to least: Licks (either size, both dogs), Dr. Harvey's (md dogs, not little), Zesty Paws, VetriScience. I was so hopeful the colostrum in VetriScience would be groundbreaking, but they seem to have the least effect. The Licks I did not give 30 minutes I spent Hours comparing ingredients between products one day and ordered several items to try them out. The Licks I did not give 30 minutes before we left, more like 5 minutes, yet it worked the best. When we come home both girls are usually whining, panting, barking. This time they were quiet, though the little one was panting. After we fiddled around a bit in the house the med pup started whining, but this time it was her sad quiet whine that's in the lower register, not her high-pitched anxious whine. No barking. The Dr. Harvey's had a definite calming effect on both medium dogs (one stays outside and he only comes in when service people are here or at night to sleep - he has ½ acre, a swimming pool, squirrels to chase, and a screened in porch so don't feel badly for him!). Inside med dog was sound asleep most of the morning after the Dr. Harvey's, and outside med dog (who is also a watch dog trained to alert) hardly barked as the guys were outside banging on walls and making a ruckus with tractors. That's something outside dog would normally give me a headache over and inside dog would occasionally grump about. Little dog is super picky and wouldn't eat the entire dose of Dr. Harvey's so it didn't get a fair test. The Licks, however, they both greedily lapped up and it was effective. I took off a star because the odor is pungent, unpleasant (to me, the dogs Loved it), and permeated the entire upstairs (500 sq ft) for hours. Med inside dog doesn't tolerate Xanax well. 1 pill does nothing, 1½ makes her overly exited and she can't walk - it's as though she's drunk. The price on the Licks is a bit scary, but we don't leave often so it's manageable. If we left more often I'd stick with the Dr. Harvey's due to the price, and will continue to use that for days we're going to have service people. … more

    Helped calm ADHD-like pup

By Chris on Mar 7, 2020

Trying to train our pup, who was a whirlwind of jumping and nipping, suddenly became easy and possible by first giving her half a packet of the Licks beef-flavored liquid. She was able to focus on commands and begin learning.
