Do I have to get all of this red dust off of these before I put them in the aquarium?

Answer by ChewySep 26, 2021
It is advised to rinse the rock before submerging it in the aquarium.

Are these real natural rocks or man-made?

Answer by ChewyJun 15, 2022
Lifegard Dragon Stone is 100% natural stone. Dragon stones are clay-like. During shipping it would get dirty. A gentle wash is necessary to see the true colors of the rocks.

does this have sharp edges meaning it wouldn’t be suitable for a betta?

Answer by ChewyJul 13, 2022
The Lifegard Dragon Rock does not have sharp edges and is suitable to be used with Betta fish.

I've used hundreds of lbs of this kind of stone and want to say that Not all dragon stone has sharp edges, it depends on the pieces you get. If you do get sharp edges you can dull them or even break them off with a small hammer as dragon stone is a brittle stone and breaks very easily. There are 3 main colors of this stone (red, tan, grey) and 2 main characteristics (some stones and more solid and other have a lot of holes and crevices) They can be difficult to build with as most bags contain mismatched colors/shapes/sizes/characteristics. So if you're trying to build a large setup, you'll probably have to order double (or more) the amount you need for the tank to get the "perfect" rocks for your build. Pro tip: when you get the stones DO NOT WASH THEM FIRST. Use tweezers or some kind of tool and scrape off all the clay into a bag (you can separate the different colors in different bags) and you can use this clay to hide super glued areas (example in my pictures). Just glue the rocks, let it dry a little, then press and rub the dirt into the glued areas to hide glued areas/cracks. Good for building large designs. After you collect all the dirt, then wash them before putting in your tank.

This is my 4th time ordering Ohka stone, but first from chewy. Exactly 15 lbs including the broken off bits. Generally an ample supply for 20 gallons. I liked the color variation. These look like they were hand picked - they did not come in the typical shrink wrapped plastic. A couple notes: Soak in a bucket, then use a stick to get rid of packed in clay to reveal even more decorative holes than what you see out of the box. I don't think you should rinse these off and put them in the tank, they need to soak for a while to soften the mud so you can separate it from the hard clay. Packaging could be better. Heavier cardboard would go a long way. I put a quarter in the pic for scale. I'd order again - better price and selection than I've received in the past.

I received 2 larger stones and 5 smaller ones. There were also a lot of broken pieces in the box but that was to be expected. It was packed in a box with packing peanuts so I can imagine it wasn’t the most secure. Out of all the stones I was sent, only 2-3 of them looked like the picture. So I wasn’t able to get the look I was hoping for in my tank. It was definitely disappointing. The color was a little too orange for my taste. Lesson learned to buy rocks that I can choose in person.

Very well packaged

Nothing was broken and all large pieces. Can't wait to use these to redo my stenodactylus petrii enclosure.

If you were looking for lots of small pebbles and rocks, this set is for you! I got 22 small rocks and like 4 pieces of 4-5 inches. Bottom line this maybe would be worth $10-15 bucks as long you knew it was just lots of very small rocks. Unfortunately I bought this with a 75 gallon tank in mind so it's largely a waste of money unless I want to decorate my black substrate floor with lots of small rocks. Maybe for a 5 gallon tank?

Versatile decor

Multiple sizes/shapes add flexibility to the arrangement. Exactly what I was looking for, very natural. Had several rocks left over for another aquarium.

These are beautiful rocks for aquascaping. It is extremely dirty so make sure to clean it before placing in your tank. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I had some arrive broken. I can't wait to add live plants to the beautiful pieces that were ok. I placed these in my 5 gallon Spec.
