Can this be added to an established tank without harming the fish?

Answer by ChewyApr 09, 2019
It's not recommended to add this to an already established tank. This sand should be gently rinsed with clean, fresh water, then place into the aquarium before adding the water, rocks and décor. All filters and pumps should be started before introducing the fish back into the tank. It's best to read the directions on the bag before use.

How many bags will be needed for 65 gallon aquarium?

Answer by ChewyJun 12, 2019
Determining how much substrate to buy for your new aquarium depends on the size and shape of your tank, as well as the depth of the substrate bed you wish to achieve. We suggest 1 pound of substrate per gallon, to achieve a 1 inch bed or use 2 pounds per gallon, for a 2 inch deep bed.

I was surprised to find how cheap this sand was, especially since it came with 20 pounds of sand. It is great for the catfish and plants, because it has a larger grain size that allows waste to fall through easily, and allows catfish to dig through for food easily.

Color and grain size was great.

Grain size is perfect for my cory catfish to sift in and the bright white color of the sand makes the plants and fish really pop.

Excellent texture and visual appeal. My Cichlids love it! Easy substrate to place live plants in. Soft enough to allow my algae eaters to swim on without hurting

Excellent texture and visual appeal. My Cichlids love it! Easy substrate to place live plants in. Soft enough to allow my algae eaters to swim on without hurting themselves. I did rinse this product out thoroughly (and soaked it for several days) before adding to my tank. Makes the water real cloudy despite the rinsing but clears up beautifully in a couple of days.

We followed the instructions listed on the bag and so far, we are very pleased with the results. Within 20 minutes, as stated, my tank started to clear. Last time, we used just play sand in our aquarium and it took days to clear. We just added the sand today so time will tell how well the fish like it but so far, I’m extremely pleased.
