Best aquarium sand

I tried this sand after not having good luck with other brands of aquarium sand for my betta's aquarium even after rinsing. I'll be honest, I didn't rinse this sand before adding it to the tank and it did make the tank cloudy for about a day but after that it settled and the water was crystal clear. This sand looks very natural and has a good texture/color. It does tend to get dirty easily but I feel like that's an issue with any light colored aquarium sand. This is the only brand of aquarium sand I'll buy from now on.

I waited 24 hrs, not 20 min to add my fish. It's cloudy, and sand gets in my Whisper filter and it makes a noise. I took the filter out, rinsed the charcoal filters and all the sand in the filter. I am sad I got this . It's making more work and I can't keep up with it.I am disabled and was looking forward to a low maintenance tank. I can't find a phone no or website to call. I had rocks in my tanks for 30 years.

I have a 75 and 20 gallon gravel aquairum and wanted to move my 20 gallon fish over to 36 gallon freshwater sand aquarium. I ran across this sand. I didnt follow the directions to rinse the sand. I put it right into my new aquarium and used the bacteria speed packs. As i out the wayer in the tank i noticed gow fine it was but it settled rather quickly and the only cloudiness is actually from the bacteria trying to cycle through the aquarium. If your tank is cloudy it is mostly likely due to the bacteria trying to acclimate to the new tank and not the sand. It takes a tank generally 4-5 days for the bacteria to regulate and for the to clear once prime and stability have been added to the tank. I moved my fish over after 30 hours with the water slightly cloudy. I also moved my medium from the old filter system to the new system to make the transition faster. Fish are doing fine and they seem to enjoy the sand over the old gravel. Dont use screen style filters. Use live medium like rocks or ceramic pellets. This is much better for the aquarium and fish. Also much easier to clean and is permanent re-use medium.

Beautiful tank

The change from a black gravel mix to way more lightness & brightness. additionally, the betas, tetras, angels, & catfish seem to be much more animated and enjoyable

The change from a black gravel mix to way more lightness & brightness. additionally, the betas, tetras, angels, & catfish seem to be much more animated and enjoyable to watch. Followed bag directions, but took tank a day or 2 longer to completely clear. The change in texture of this material did not affect the vacuum ability to clean. Would purchase this product again and remain a faithful client of chewy.
