What size bottle would you recommend for two female rats?
Answer by ChewyJan 02, 2019
An average-sized rat should drink about 2 ounces of water per day. The 6 ounce bottle would be suitable for use with 2 rats, if refilled daily.

Is there a trick to get these to not leak?
Answer by ChewyJan 31, 2020
This little drip is the first release of water and is created as your water bottle forms a new vacuum seal. In order for a vacuum to form within the sealed water bottle, the air space and water volume need to equalize. This little release of water is the after effect of this equalization as the pressure stabilizes, and is perfectly normal. A single droplet at the end of the drinking tube is not a sign of a leaking water bottle. To help the vacuum-seal establish when the water bottle is first filled and mounted, tap the ball bearing several times with your fingertip. This releases small amounts of water and speeds up the equalization of the vacuum pressure.

is this good to use with Guinea pigs?
Answer by ChewyOct 29, 2018
This bottle is great for mice, gerbils, hamsters and ferrets, as well as small birds including cockatiels, conures and lovebirds. For other small animals we'd recommend the Lixit Chew Proof Glass Small Animal Water Bottle.

Can this product be used for a small Maltese puppy (2-4 lb.)
Answer by ChewyOct 29, 2018
This product is intended for even smaller animals and may not suit the needs of your puppy, However, Lixit does offer water bottles specifically made for dogs. such as the Lixit Small Dog Water Bottle and Lixit Deluxe Glass Pet Water Bottle.

Constantly Leaks and strong rubber smell

This water bottle constantly leaks after I fill in the water, so it’s not working. Not only so, the rubber stopper has a very strong plastic/rubber smell. This rubber stopper would be soaking in water all the time and could make water toxic to my pet. I would not recommend this water bottle.

Quality water bottle

heavy duty glass, rubber stopper and stainless steel spout surpasses all the years of replacing water bottles (even the bubbles dispensing are consistent) from the start... Buttercup says, 'no complaints here'

Constantly Leaks

This bottle constantly leaks when I fill it. It drips nonstop and floods and soaks my guinea pigs’ fleece and hay. At this point I’m not sure what bottle to purchase because they all seem to have leaking problems. The smaller size doesn’t seem to leak as much but I need a bigger size like this one for my two girls that live together.

Water feeder

I ordered this item 2 times and it's wrong again for the 2nd time. The picture of the item has a metal lid, neither one of the feeders has it. What is the problem.? Do you ever look at what your selling?

Excellent!!

This is a great size for my hamster. I turned the spout backwards and it works so well.

Leaks, no matter what

I am an experienced rat owner. I know how to fill a water bottle correctly to set it up with the best chance of a vacuum. I tried EVERY trick, but no matter what I do, this bottle leaks to the point there's always a wet clump of bedding underneath the nozzle. Really disappointing.

Smart Birds

Surprised how quickly the birds used the bottle to take a drink.

Great Product!!

Finally- a raccoon proof water bottle!! Our raccoon has destroyed every water bottle we have tried for her- and over turned all the so called weighted water bowls! I was getting very concerned about how we were going to be able to solve this issue- but this water bottle is terrific and so far raccoon proof!!

Poor Craftsmanship

I've had this water bottle less than two months, have never dropped it, use it as intended, and yet it has severed at the indent where the spring holds it to the cage. I was just refilling it -- placed it in the sink with the opening up to fill with water, let it fill up, picked it up, and...it came apart. Water went everywhere.
