Like most people negatively commented about it protrudes into the tank more than other filtration systems. Even the 400. I wasn't concerned because I can, had to and did cut the glass top back 3/4 of an inch. It's nice and quiet and I can still use the size E filters I have from the 400 that got noisy and stopped flowing. Luckily enough the 450 arrived before the old 400 completely stopped.

Intake valve won't stay attached

The filter arrived within a few days of ordering. Setup went very smoothly out of box to back of the tank with perfect fit between wall and tank and space allowed

The filter arrived within a few days of ordering. Setup went very smoothly out of box to back of the tank with perfect fit between wall and tank and space allowed from tank to lid. Self filled seamlessly. The reason I reduced the stars is within 5 days the intake tube disconnected from the propeller housing. It was near impossible to get the intake tube reattached to the filter body. Water went everywhere, the intake continually fell off. Extremely frustrating that complete contradicted the ease of original setup. Disappointed as I really like the filter size, tank filter capacity and extremely quiet operation.

Perfect replacement.

The front housing work around they did in the updated model won't clear a versa hood on a 55 gallon nor a 125 gallon aquarium. It is cheaply made. Intake strainer

Won't Fit Standard Hood Clearance

The filter requires at least 2 3/8 inches of space behind the hood. My Top Fin 75 gallon tank only has 2 inches. Now I have to get the glass hood cut. Did Marineland
