Do you use the 9 or 12 blade on a cat? She is ancient. Can groom herself like she could in her younger years. Has a thick coat. Not long haired. Thanks.

The 9-blade Comb measures 6 7/8 inches, blades are 2 inches and set 3/8 inch. The 12-blade Comb measures 6 5/8 inches, blades are 1 3/8 inches and set 2/8 inch.

This is excellent!!!

Bella does not shed - she mats a lot especially in the winter because she loves the snow. This morning she let me groom her for over 30 minutes - believe me a record

Blades weren’t able to lift up and separate the closely matted areas because they were so tightly matted right next to her skin- if engaged into a mat , it required to o much pulling to even begin “sawing “ thru - without pulling the skin as well . Maybe for dogs or mats that could be separated from the skin and held back enough so the pressure could be contained to the mat by stableizing the mat with the other hand, and taking the pressure off the skin pulling

easy on your hand and doesn't tear out more coat than necessary. I have Irish Setters on acreage. They are in conformation shows so we have to be careful about tearing the coat. One boy especially has a very soft coat, loves to hunt daily, and then swims in our pond so brings in lots of debris which tends to matt up. this matt breaker keeps his coat manageable, and my sanity intact LOL
