My alpacas love this food. It’s what the vet suggested. But recently the pellets changed size. My ladies like the larger pellets better and haven’t been enjoying the new smaller pellets at all. No where on the bag does it mention anything about changes. And chewy doesn’t either. We will try them on the smaller pellets some more, but may have to look into another option.
Fostering several alpacas for the summer has me buying grain to supplement the 2.5 acres of grass I have. I cannot vouch for the taste or benefits, since I'm not an alpaca. At 70 yo, my only recommendation to future customers, is to have a hand truck available, to bring the heavy boxes from the curb....into the garage.
I’ve fed Mazuri products to my alpacas since 2007. I was happy to see Chewy now carries it. Recently, either Mazuri or one of the company’s who produces the grain had changed the size of the Care grain. I prefer the larger grain because I mix it w/the Maintenance. The new size I was getting from a different retailer resembles the Maintenance making it impossible for me to mix the two & be certain what I was giving them. Chewy carries the original so I’m happy. Care is more expensive and a 40 lb bag while the Maintenance has less minerals (mainly Flax) and is less expensive & 50lbs. I do 2 to 1 (2 Maintenance, 1 Care) to give my Alpacas the xtra minerals so I don’t have to buy as much of the Care. My Alpacas have no problem with the larger grain as they are used to it. I guess others have difficulty as their animals weren’t accustom to the larger pellet. I believe I saw that Chewy also carriers “crumbles” so that could be an alternative for those whose animals don’t like the larger pellet. With my monthly shipment discount I’m not paying any more than I do at my feed store. It’s a wash but it’s at my front door.
Our mini llamas love this pelleted fees ! We buy the alpaca size pellets because they are smaller than full size llamas and we have less of a choking risk . Our only issue was that FED X was super late in the delivery . It took 6 days - not 2 days .
Please mention the size of the pellets in your description. They are not appetizing to my alpacas and they refuse to eat them.
I've been feeding Alpaca Care for maintenance. I have one female that is about 24 years old, she's doing pretty good on it.
Pellets are three times the size of mazuri alpaca maintenance and the will not eat them.
Just grateful I can get alpaca feed! Not too happy about the cost but glad you carry it and deliver it!!!
