I'm not sure whatvsize to get for my dog and the sizing chart gives no indication of where to measure (sole circumference is what? ) My 58lb pittie had surgery on his paw and needs one for the final part of the healing process. What measurements would give me the best sizing?
Answer by ChewyJan 23, 2021
To get the sole measurement for this boot, first place your pup's paw on a piece of paper on a firm surface. Next, lift their opposite paw, so that weight is placed onto the paw being measured. Then, mark both sides of weighted paw at its widest point. Finally, measure the distance and match that measurement with the sizing chart (if you are between sizes, choose the smaller size).

Is there thick cushioning or padding on the bottom?
Answer by ChewyMar 12, 2021
The healing slim boot is lined from top to bottom with a soft bamboo and silver antimicrobial fabric. The bottom of the boot has an anti-skid rubber sole. There is not an extra cushion in the bottom of the boot. Please see an enlarged photo of the bottom of this boot below:

Do these work for hind legs?
Answer by ChewyApr 06, 2021
This boot works for front and hind legs.

Can this be used over a lick granuloma all day? Is it breathable? Usually these wounds are best not bandaged, but I need something to keep him from licking. I use the MediPaw unlined boot for outside which works, but it is not really breathable to leave on for long periods.
Answer by ChewyFeb 02, 2021
This healing boot can be used over lick granulomas to avoid any licking, scratching, and biting. It has a breathable fabric lined with antimicrobial bamboo. This should be used as directed by your vet, and it is recommended to monitor the wound at least 2-3 times per day (more often in warmer climates) for signs of infection.

Covers well, but not stable

I am very appreciative that Chewy has been so cooperative and accommodating as I tried to find the right size for my 150- lb Great Pyrenees, but this boot does not stay securely on his paw very well regardless of size. He broke his dewclaw and needed something to cover the area when went anywhere aside from sidewalk. This product successfully did that, but kept slipping down as he walked. It is good for short periods, but as we kept walking the foot portion would begin flapping and my dog would start to walk on the unprotected, fabric- only leg portion of the boot. He seems to be in between a medium and large size, with the medium seeming to fit better (though we kept the large to give his paw more room). We originally purchased an XL, which was enormous even for my giant dog.

A Life Saver!

My Sheltie was born with no toes on her hind paw. She had a splinter that abscessed and exploded before the vet could remove. I used these to cover bandages, a hamster tube, to protect the foot while healing. A year later, I use the X-Small Yellow to provide protection as needed. I tried many sizes due to varying bandages. This boot kept her from an amputation.

Super quick shipping, pretty good product

The product shipped the next day, which was great! The dimensions and sizing I felt were weird, thought. My dog is 70 lbs and his paw width fits in an xsmall. Other than that it works well! It slips down a little, but that's to be expected.

Medipaw boot

My vet recommended this boot for my dog while healing from an injured paw. Works great and stays on like advertised. I would definitely use it again.

medi paw boot

I have a 97 lb Lab. I bought the XL and L And M The XL could fit a human soo big and long. The L was same and the M was was too big. I was able to get credit for them and donating them to an Animal Hospital.

Needs to be more durable

I ordered this for my one year old lab who fractured her leg. It kept her splint clean and dry but did not last as long as it should for the price. Over the course of four weeks we went through two Medipaws. The stitching around the paw began to fray after about a week and at two weeks the boot was leaking. I replaced it and the new one is starting to fray. The stitching needs to be more durable.

Sad.. it didn’t stay in place

I had high hope this would be the solution to prevent my dog from licking her leg. Sadly, it didn’t stay on

Not a boot

This is not a boot. It's a bootie with padding under the paw. A boot is supportive, this is not. It comes off just like a sock which she can come out of very easily. I'm very disappointed and a little irritated I paid this much for a bootie.

Super helpful, but not super resilient

Our poor pup had been in a cone for a couple of months while we tried to diagnose a cyst on his toe. He ultimately had to have the toe removed so in anticipation of another month in the cone we decided to try this boot to give him some relief. It really helped his mood to be free of the cone! It was great to protect the bandage on our short walks as well while he healed. That being said, the plastic piece that tightens and loosens the elastic at the top broke after about 2 weeks. The fabric is also ripping near the bottom of the boot. Our pup is back in the cone now since the bandages are off, the boot is too wide now anyway without those bandages! So the boot was a great option but I wish it had held up a little longer, especially for the price.

Medipaw Does The Job

My dog would not leave his bandaged paw alone. Put this on and he could not get to his bandage and gave up. His foot stayed dry and healed well. When the vet saw the Medipaw on his foot he said these work great. It has been added to our pet medical box. We will be ready the next time he steps on a bee.
