After consulting with a dermatologist, 6 mg of melatonin was suggested for our 65 lb dog (weight-based) to address seasonal flank alopecia. Research suggests that seasonal alopecia is related to Vitamin D production, which is affected by the lack of sunlight in the cooler/cold months. More specifically - and this is where we go down the rabbit hole - from Vernal Equinox to Vernal Equinox (from roughly October through March). Akin to Seasonal Affective Disorder in humans, the amount of sunlight affects hair shedding and regrowth. In short, THIS PRODUCT WORKS BUT IT TAKES TIME!!! Our dog was on it for 4-6 months before we really noticed a difference. Our dog has taken Mela-Vet melatonin every day for the past two years and has not had any alopecia since. Trust the process and give it at least six months. If your pet doesn't care for this product, there are others. Don't give up on melatonin!

On the label it tells you to give your dog these several times a day and several tabs each time. According to my vet and what I read online that would be way to large of a dosage for a dog, especially a small dog. I am only giving my 8 pound dog 1/2 per day. Need to clarify the safe amount to give a dog. I don't trust the dosage.

Purchased this for my Australian Shepherd Beckett who had ACL surgery and had been shaved for surgery. I think this really helped her coat come back quickly and very poofy! She loves these treats so much and they do smell amazing, so getting her to eat them in the beginning was easy! Definitely recommend, Mela-Vet for the win!!

I purchased this product on the advice of our vet for our frenchie who has experienced hair loss for unknown reasons. I gave her this product for 3 months and there was no improvement whatsoever. I’m pretty bummed because I had high hopes for this stuff. We’ll keep searching.

I have been using this product consistently for the past year to help with my Pomeranian’s alopecia (hair loss) issues. My dog likes the chews, although sometimes

I have been using this product consistently for the past year to help with my Pomeranian’s alopecia (hair loss) issues. My dog likes the chews, although sometimes he gets finicky and decides he doesn’t really want to eat them, so I then offer a treat as a reward for eating the chews and that works for us. His hair has grown back thicker in many places. He has some bald spots on his backside and hind legs which are marginally improved. I definitely notice that his hair falls/ pulls out more easily when he is not eating these chews. Our vet recommended 2 chews or 4mg melatonin daily. Additionally we have been grooming monthly with special Pomeranian shampoo and conditioner from mendota pet (shoutout to Minnesota) which I believe is a positive contributor to his hair growth as well. Overall I feel this is a great product that I will continue to use to help with hair growth.
