This is for an older dog who's used to walking on a leash properly and without any control issues. I can't recommend this leash for a dog that needs lots of corrections.
This is a very nice item except I thought I was getting a TEAL color but instead, got a rather ugly Christmas green. Your color chart needs to be improved...
This leash began fraying 3 days into using it and now at 8 days it has multiple pulls in the rope and it's fraying so badly at this point I'm looking for a new one. Complete waste of money.
This is my second Mendonta long leash and I love the quality! I have other Mendonta products that include two twenty-five ft. and a 50 ft. long line. They all have the same quality.
This was recommended by our breeder and we love it. Very strong and easy to slip on to our 70 lb. Golden Retriever. We have two now and highly recommend.
I purchased this leash about six months ago for my Karakachan/Anatolian Shepherd dog. He is a little under two years and over 100 lbs, and his strength makes him capable of breaking most leashes if he gets excited or lunges suddenly while walking. Because he is a guardian dog by nature, it’s important that I’m able to maintain control over him at all times. This leash was rated for dogs up to 250lbs, so I really hoped it would last a long time. Unfortunately, Magnus got excited about chasing a butterfly while we walked around my property last week, lunged hard, and the loop handle snapped like a twig. I briefly had to pursue him and was able to wrap the leash around my hand for the rest of our walk, and have switched to another leash by the same brand. However, I’m worried that it will also give out prematurely and the results could be dangerous for my dog or other animals (or people) if he felt that I was threatened. Really hoping to find something built to handle BIG, strong dogs and to last.
We adopted an all-muscle, no previous training, 72 lb male Labrador who could and did haul me all over the place with no boundaries including pulling me down on my face and dragging me. Yup. Unacceptable. We tried the pinch collar, but it didn't fit such that it stays up at his ear level and slides down to the muscular area of his neck that has no correction effect. We took a link out but then it was too tight. So, we tried this slip lead, and the stopper made it such that we could keep the loop up by his ears and the correction was effective. This helped some, but for a year-old puppy that has everything to learn it was a little more advanced than he was. Our new trainer sold us a halter style (like Gental Leader) because he's VERY new to the heeling concept and this extra direction is necessary for now. HOWEVER, as he progresses on that, I have every expectation that he'll be GRADUATING to this marvelous slip lead. I really like it. It's well made and slides easily for quick jerk corrections and release. Anyone looking for a nice "loose leash" experience with intermediate correction this is it.
These slip leads come in a variety of great colors. I would recommend the 6 feet, the 4 feet seems too short.
This leash is everything I hoped. My dog is a Shepherd mixed weighing 66lbs. This leash is well made and feels sturdy. It does a good job of correcting and leash pulling my dog does. However my dog isn't normally a heavy puller so I cannot speak for those that are. I may need to buy a few more of these never know when a collar issue may arise and a slip leash is handy to have.
This 4 ft leash is a beautiful color and well-made. The downside is that it's a bit on the short side. I thought 4 feet was measured from the handle to where the collar began. Not true. It is the entirety of the rope material. As such, this makes an excellent lead for going to the vet's office where closer control is optimum. For walking, longer would be more comfortable for my 50 lb Carolina Dog mix. I will keep this leash for vet visits but will be ordering the 6ft lead for a better walking experience.
