Why doesn’t it have a handle?

The Mendota Products Pro-Trainer Check Cord Dog Lead doesn't have a handle loop. An alternative is to tie a double figure eight knot which is easy to undo.
How easy is to tie and then untie knots in it. Does it cause any weakness in the rope after untying a knot

I plan on using it the water on a regular basis. Will this affect its long lasting strength so it doesn’t break if the dog suddenly pulls
