What are the dimensions of the doors?

Answer by ChewyJan 14, 2025
The measurements on the front door are 27 7/8 X 37 1/4 inches.

Which metal is this made from?

Answer by ChewyMay 12, 2025
MidWest crates are made of cold rolled steel. Cold rolled steel is essentially hot rolled steel that has been through further processing. Once hot rolled steel has cooled, it is then re-rolled at room temperature to achieve more exact dimensions and better surface qualities.

To be fair this is a very heavy crate. The packaging on this is minimal at best, so in shipping(?) it was damaged. There is a big crack in the tray and several of the corners needed to be hammered back to straight so that the crate could be put together. I called Chewy to resolve the issue but the solutions was for me to ship it back and then they would ship me a new one, OR for me to buy a new one and wait for it to arrive then ship the old one back... Neither of these "solutions" work given that, well its over 200 for this crate and my dog cant be without a crate. The 3 solution offered was for ME to call the manufacturer, who did not answer the phone, to get a replacement tray... Seriously, all I wanted was for someone to replace the tray that arrived damaged and can injure/pinch my dogs foot/body. It is really disappointing that a better solution was not offered.

Multiple hooks on the panels looked like pliers had been used to bend them to fit. One corner panel was bent on the corner. At first it looked like the 4 corner rods were missing, but previous buyer left them inserted through posts. Extremely poor customer service to resell a heavy 78 lb. crate without checking for damage that was obvious. The metal wire is extremely thick so there was no way I could even try to bend it to make it work. Very disappointing and a lot of time spent wrestling with this crate. Thankfully, Chewy was amazing as always and did not require me to wrestle it back in the box to ship back. I was offered a refund or replacement. I opted for a refund and will never purchase anything from Midwest again. Definitely a subpar vendor with no concern for their customers.

XX large crate

Perfect for my rapidly growing St Bernard puppy of 8 months now. She has a lot of room now for when I’m away and I know she is safe. She actually likes to go in

I am a septuagenarian, and hired someone to carry an approximately 50# cage up the stairs. I needed a cage right away for my rambunctious year old Rottweiler. I called Chewy, dealt with the most pleasant person on the phone, and I had another cage within two days. I can only say, I would never order another cage from anyone but Chewy. There were several reviews regarding the Midwest cage about damaged or missing parts. I knew Chewy would take care of me if there were a problem, and they did. My advice to Chewy: make that manufacturer get some quality control. The box the cage arrived in from the manufacturer was pristine.

Almost perfect

The kennel is large enough for my super-sized Great Dane and he loves it. The assembly instructions were terrible and made it a lot harder than it should have

We looked in store and online for weeks to find a super large crate for our about 75# 10 month old puppy. We were using another crate (xxl!) that he could no longer sit up in and laying down had him squished into the bars. We saw some options but reviews indicated concerns about dogs getting injured. The other crates have bars they sit on or gaps that they can get their paws stuck in etc. We were happy to find this one as it is similar to our last one which he did great in. I set this up by myself but it would be easier with two people. Once you understand the instructions it is very easy. I had to use a wrench on two parts to just bend them a little so the bars would go thru but that was no big deal. Our dog looked visibly relieved to have a bigger space and for the first time is walking in on his own and chooses to sleep in it at night instead of upstairs with us because it is cooler. He can not be trusted on his own yet. If we run into quality issues I will update this review. The three door latches are a bit flimsy but have not been an issue yet. So far, I definitely recommend this crate for the super sized pups/dogs! (Wouldn’t let me post my pics.)

Good Quality Product

The product is good quality but a few of the parts were bent. We were able to easily manipulate the parts into place and the crate is working great.
