I first purchased All-Natural Horizon premium feeds. One thing I learn from dog foods "Premium" means nothing. So, I read the ingredients, and it read like this; Grain Products, Plant Protein Products, Processed Grain By-Products..... this doesn't tell me what's actually in this feed. Makes me think they used the cheapest grains possible. On the other hand, Modesto Milling lists all the grains by name, all organic! I know when choosing food for my dogs the last two things I don't want to see is corn and meat by-products. Now the reason I only gave it three stars, is the pellets are rather large, my chickens don't like that. But, fermented they like it and there is health benefits connected fermentation. Our egg production increased.

I am a month in and started off mixing with the old food and slowly upping the ratio. I cannot get these birds to eat this. They will starve themselves, and have until the next morning before they will eat a single pellet. I have no clue. I have been throwing a couple scoops into their ferment for breakfast and they will eat it fermented. But I need them to eat standard pellets in the evening. Back to my old i guess.

Causes Death & Infertility in Chickens

I had my chicks on the starter feed from this company and my layer hens on this feed for a month and a half. This feed caused all of my chicks to die and my hens

I had my chicks on the starter feed from this company and my layer hens on this feed for a month and a half. This feed caused all of my chicks to die and my hens to completely stop laying. It also caused my roosters to stop mating entirely. It has taken me 2 months after switching the food back to my old feed to get my hens to start laying again and my roosters are just now starting to show interest in mating again. DO NOT BUY THIS FEED!!

."It" threw me off the first time around. That is the gmail who disconnected me.... My little crossbill hen made the choice for the Modesto pellets. Everything gets decided on by the birds who live with me. As for food, they have to eat it, not me. And i experimented a lot with different foods. Some the chicklets liked, others not so much. They let me know. The powder in the bottom of pellet bags does not even bother us. I soak the pellets for Fiona [the crossbill hen] just the way she likes it. During freezing temps it is put into a heated bowl. The solid pellets are preferred by the healthy-beaked chicklets. Everything works out well for everyone....
