The amounts in the table are intended as guidelines only. The food intake should be adjusted according to the age, weight, breed, temperature, climate and activity level of your dog. Consult a veterinarian for specific weight recommendations.
Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diet Dry Dog Food, we suggest starting with the amounts recommended in the table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog's needs.
For pregnant females: A minimal increase is needed during the first 6 weeks. Increase the amount fed up to 25% during weeks 7, 8, and 9. For lactating females: Immediately after whelping, the nutritional demand increases by 50% compared to maintenance levels. Feed in 3 equal meals per day. For working dogs: Based on the work your dog will be asked to perform, the nutritional requirements will vary accordingly. As the workload increases, the demand for protein and fat increases proportionally. Dogs in hard training will generally require twice the maintenance levels. For older dogs: As your dog begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for a less active dog.
Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!
When switching your dog's diet, we recommend that it be done gradually over a 5-7 day period.
My 3 pups love the new food!!!! And there very picky
After several trials of other dog food, this is the only one that our Lucy can tolerate and likes! Thank goodness we were finally able to find a brand that her stomach issues could handle.
I like the grain free as it doesn't cause stomach issues for my chihuahuas. The small breed bites are perfect for them to eat easily.
Smells really fishy and ended up being way too fishy (rich) for my boys sensitive stomach. Diarrhea. We will stick with the Reserve duck and potato of this brand.
I have owned 3 small dogs and this is the only brand of kibble my dogs will eat. They have never had a reaction when I change flavors or add fresh chicken on top.
We have been buying this food for more than 5 years. In the past 4/5 months, something in the ingredients has changed. My dog is farting...a lot...and not comfortable at all. She used to enthusiastically eat her food, but now leaves a lot behind. There is nothing wrong with the dog. I'd like know what they've done.
DO NOT BUY THIS FOOD IT HAS SHARP BONE FRAGMENTS I was shocked when I picked a piece off the floor and it pinched my finger as there was a bone fragment in it. After examining the remainder of the food, I found that a third of it had sharp bone fragments in the kibble, there is no way this didn't hurt when my dogs were swallowing this food. I received a refund from Chewy, not their fault. I had a second bag on hand and decided to check that one which also had them, so it wasn't just the batch. So very upset that my tiny elderly terrier and poodle ate this and I did not notice. Contacted company who offered a refund if Chewy did not. I stated that it's not about the refund, my dogs ate this and no other dog should, it should not be sold, no response. This dog food should NOT be sold. Please don't buy this!
We have been buying this product for several years now and our dog has really enjoyed it. However with the most recent bag, I noticed the kibble was bigger and there are large and sharp pieces of (what appears to be) unground bone protruding from a majority of pieces in the bag! This seems to be a big oversight on quality for this item and I wanted to post this as a warning for this food going forward. I have contacted Chewy (who was great and responsive!) and the manufacturer so we shall see what comes of it.
As others have commented, there are now sharp pieces of foreign material in this kibble. I didn’t notice until my dog refused to finish eating his bowl. I bought a second bag and it was the same issue. My dog has a sensitive stomach and used to love this food, so something is very wrong with the quality for him to refuse it. I hope this is resolved soon, but be careful feeding this to your dogs in the meantime!
Been feeding this to my dog for years. No sharp object in my latest bag but the kibble seems larger and she is struggling to get it down. Like it's really dry? What's going on?
