Questions & Answers

What is the percentage of taurine in this grain free puppy dick and potato formula?
Answer by ChewyOct 04, 2019
Natural Balance recipes have a minimum of 0.12% Taurine on a Dry Matter basis to help prevent unintentional taurine deficiencies. The total amount of taurine in each recipe will vary and will likely be higher due to taurine being present in the other ingredients.

My dog is 8 months old is this still considered a puppy for the his food?
Answer by ChewyJan 15, 2018
A puppy is generally considered an adult when they stop growing taller. Typically for small breeds this is between 9-12 months, medium breeds around 12 months and large breeds closer to 15 months.

How many cups are in a pound of food?
Answer by ChewyJan 08, 2018
There's approximately 18 cups of food in the 4.5 pound bag, 48 cups of food in the 12 pound bag, and 96 cups of food in the 24 pound bag.

My puppy is currently 4 months old. She has been eating Natural Balance ultra grain free puppy food with no problems. May I switch between this and the chicken food without any problems? I am trying to rotate her diet to prevent allergies which we have had with other pets.
Answer by ChewyApr 29, 2020
We recommend at least a 7 - 10 day transition before you begin feeding the new formula exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new formula exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Amazing!

We were originally on Natural Balance's Salmon and rice for our six month old lab, but she was having loose stools and was a pain to pick up. I have always loved Natural Balance, so wanted to stick with the brand. We landed up the duck and potato, and it has been a game changer! She LOVES her food and has very normal stools now! We always get comments on how shiny her coat is and she looks very healthy. I love that it is Duck and not chicken.

Great for poop issues!

Our puppy had constant soft stools. We tried pumpkin, probiotics, other recommended kibble e.g., PPP SSS. The Natural Balance duck & potato formula worked the best. I have to admit, her stools were not perfect even on this. Once we added raw food (50/50 natural balance and raw + probiotics for months now), her stools improved immediately and are now great every time. She is noticeably happier/more energetic since we sorted out her uncomfortable tummy. It's really difficult to tell what will work for your dog simply by looking at the ingredients online, but I would definitely recommend at least trying a small bag of this kibble (especially if they have tummy issues).

Cannot recommend this enough!

We have an Aussie puppy with a really delicate tummy. She can’t have chicken and it’s been quite a task trying to find treats and food that she can eat. After some research and reading the positive reviews on this food, we decided to give it a try. Immediately upon slowly transitioning her to this we saw a difference in her bowel movements.(1/4 new food and 3/4 former food) If you have a puppy with a fussy tummy, this is the one! More importantly, she loves it!

Duck potatoe grain free

Excellent food however not good for goldens as the vet said. They nred grains or could develop heart issues.

Great puppy food

This puppy food is excellent - no upset stomachs, no diarrhea, and nice, firm stools. Easy to feed, very palatable. Fairly pricey, yet very much worth the price.

He loves it!

I opened the bag and put a cup in my puppy’s bowl and he loved it. Love that I can give him something that is good for him that he likes to eat too.

I would not recommend this product

We have a 10 month old goldendoodle and have battled off and on bouts with soft stool. I decided to try this food to see if it would help. To begin with I ordered a small bag that lasted around 2 weeks or so, in the beginning it was great. No more soft stool, everything seemed to be going great. I ordered a second bag, about a week in, I noticed that he did not seem to want to eat at all. Which is very unlike him, he usually patiently sits by his bowl and waits for meal time. Another week went by and he started just not eating or drinking water. Very unlike him, he is a water dog and would swim in his water bowl if he could. We ended up going to the vet and he had to stay over night for fluids and meds. The conclusion was that he had eaten something that had his stomach upset, his stomach pouch and small intestine were inflamed. So now, over a week later he still was very hesitant to eat this food and would only eat half of his normal serving. I switched foods and 2 days later he is completely back to his normal self. I have no proof that the food had anything to do with it, but he is a very smart dog and I feel that he was not wanting to eat because it was upsetting his tummy. He wouldn't even eat it with peanut butter on top which is his absolute favorite.

Great food!

Started out with Blue Buffalo and then to Wellness, my 7 month old Rottie still had soft stool and stomach issues. This food changed that! he loves the smaller bites, eventhough he's 90 lbs, and his stoll is finally hard and easy to clean up. we found a winner

Long shipping, had to buy food elsewhere

I have no problem with the item, it's a great product and has helped with my dogs food allergies. I have an issue with shipping. It says free 1-3 day shipping...I ordered on 9/21 and it's now 9/29 and still no package. This isn't the first time either. I had to go buy food elsewhere because I ran out a couple days ago (when my shipment should've already been here).
