Can dogs have this too?

Answer by ChewyJan 15, 2024
These treats are only formulated for cats.

can this be given to dogs?

Answer by ChewyDec 15, 2021
While it is not dangerous for a cat to eat WOOF or vise versa, the WOOF and MEOW ranges are specifically designed to meet the nutritional requirements that your pet needs, so we recommend using the product that is intended for them.

Are these mussels cooked or raw before freeze-drying?

Answer by ChewyMar 12, 2025
These cat treats are raw before the freeze-drying process. The freeze-drying method gently removes moisture while preserving the natural enzymes and nutrients of the raw, sustainably farmed New Zealand green mussels. This process ensures that none of the wholesome goodness is lost due to cooking. As a single-ingredient treat, it is also ideal for pets with allergies or sensitivities. Additionally, every batch undergoes rigorous testing to ensure it meets safety standards.

Before I put any toppers on my cat’s food I like to have her try it. She was very hesitant at first but started eating it more. She was having difficulty with the size of the mussel so we broke it into smaller pieces. Some parts of the mussels have ridges that seem difficult to eat. In less than 5 minutes, my cat threw up. If you give this to your cat I recommend breaking it into smaller pieces. I was hoping these would work as it’s hard to find a good source of omega 3s that my cat likes, but I will continue to explore my options.

Our cats love these freeze-dried mussels and devour them. One of our cats will enjoy them whole, and the other is baffled by the large size but will happily eat them if we break the mussel into smaller pieces. These treats are high quality, as you can tell from the large size of each mussel, and yes, even the briny, oceanic smell. However, that's not a downside, as the kitties enjoy these treats so much we can endure a little mussel smell for their health and pleasure. It's a great way to give them a special treat.

Only Mr Darcy will eat these, maybe because he’s a big cat and not intimidated by an almost palm sized mussel, but I’d have to break these up to add to food for the other two to eat them. Omega 3 is excellent for cats so I will keep adding these to their meals, just not as often as I thought.

These did not work for us, they were big pieces which my cats did not know what to do with and they really smelled bad just because of what it is, not a fault of the product. If your cats like larger pieces that they can break up, they may like these. Mine have a hard time with the chicken hearts too. We ended up giving them to the dogs and they loved them.

My kitten immediately loved these. It look took the 1.5 a little bit longer to get into it but now they both are obsessed. Just as a note, mussels have a beard so occasionally you do find a dry clump of hairy stuff that looks like a hairball.

I didn’t think they liked them till I found the bag on the floor torn open one morning. They are very stinky so keep them where they can’t get them.

i break one up into 3 pieces and soak the pieces in water for her and she LOVES it. It's a great way to get more water in her system. She's very disinterested in most treats and food, even though we feed her high quality can food and she loves these mussels and begs for them, which is really cute to have something like a food treat that is her favorite. She looks forward to her soaked mussel each morning

Bought this for my 9 year old cat so she can get her omega 3s in and as a healthy treat, she absolutely loves it! Sometimes I crush it up for her or I will split it in half for her to chew. My 2 other cats enjoy the mussels too, I love hearing them instinctively growl as they eat it lol! 10/10 <3
