Works well, but too easy
I got the largest of this for our geriatric Lab who still wants to play and fetch, but due to mobility issues from GOLPP, she can no longer run and fetch. We got her this to keep her mind occupied and she LOVES it HOWEVER as others have mentioned, the holes are so large that she has it emptied within 3 -4 minutes or less. She has figured out that if she gets it rolling pretty hard aimed at a wall or cabinet, etc., when it smacks up against those hard surfaces, it will knock treats out. So she waits til it comes to a stop then will take her paw, roll it back a few inches and hit it with her nose again to have it slam into the hard wall/cabinet.table leg, etc. If there were smaller holes, the treats would not just tumble out as easily OR if the manufacturer would just make OR even suggest treats that another manufacturer makes that work well with this ball rather than give the size of opening. Try finding the size measurements on individual dog treats! You won't! She cannot pick the large red and yellow one up by her teeth because the plastic is hard (think of an insulated wall tumbler and the hardness of it) and she does ask for it every day to get some treats/play. I put about 10 dog trainers in it and have tried her jerky bits, etc. but everything falls out of the holes due to their large size.
Good for Slow feed but loud
My puppy loves this toy. I put his kibble in it for breakfast, lunch or dinner and he pushes it around and a few pieces fall out. He really has fun chasing it around our apartment. I think a half cup of kibble takes my dog 5+ min to finish rolling it around the apartment. My only downside is it is a hard plastic material.... so it is really loud when it hits things or when it is empty. We also don't have carpet in our home so that is a factor also but I just have to be careful of the time of day when giving him his food this way.
Awesome Toy - depending on why you’re buying it
This treat dispensing ball is awesome in that your dog won’t be able to destroy it. I got the large for my 80lb male Doberman who can destroy toys in minutes but this one holds up. I give it 4 stars for that. However, in terms of the long term interest this toy falls short. The holes to fill/dispense the treats are so big. Which is great when you’re filling the toy but my smarty pants dog gets the treats out in 2 minutes flat.
Great treat dispenser
Overall, I am pleased with the purchase. The treat dispenser is worth the money, but the suction cup with the rope is unnecessary in my opinion. Very durable, but the rope was chewed off in the first 15 minutes, so that’s not useful. Keeps pups busy longer than anything I’ve ever tried. If suction cup is attached to vinyl flooring, it is powerful enough to pull vinyl away from subfloor. (Probably needs a warning on pkg)
Yes! Finally a toy that is worth its price!
Murphy destroys all toys, any toys, all the time. This ball is fabulous! She can walk around with it in her mouth (somehow?) but cannot bite through it and hasn't destroyed the plastic yet. We use the little tiny milkbones and put them inside. She can hear them rattle when it rolls and loves it!
It’s too easy
I thought this had an ability to adjust the difficulty/amount it dispenses but it is really just a hollow ball with 2 holes. This took my puppy less than a second to figure out.
We received this tonight and it was nice to see my 10-year-old dog who is highly food motivated get up and follow this around the basement. She would nudge it around in a big circle. As the treats fell out, she stopped rolling it go back and eat all the treats at once then return to the ball and nudge it around for another couple seconds. I thought it was kind of interesting that she didn’t stop and start each time a treat fell out. We just used her normal kibble and it fit fine in the holes. It was nice that something like this got her up and moving. And held her interest. She seems so blah lately with the cold weather it was nice to have her get a little exercise. Although she was eating the entire time lol
Our Dog Is A Chewer, So It Took Us Showing Him How To Use It A Few Times Before He Actually Got The Hang Of It! But This Is Perfect To Ease Boredom, I Work Graveyards So Before I Go To Bed I Fill This Up And He Plays With It, Much Quieter Then Squeakers, And It Keeps Him Active While I'm Sleeping. Definitely Recommend Getting A Small Unless You Have A HUGE Breed, Our Boy Is A Medium/Large Breed And The Small Is Perfect For Him!!
My 6-month old puppy loves this ball. I mix his kibble and some treats in the ball and he will push it all over the house to get the treats inside.
IF YOU HAVE A PUPPY YOU NEED THIS
I have recommended this toy to everyone I know who has a puppy. I fill it up with kibble when I leave for work so she can entertain herself! 100% worth every penny.
