I want to hang my bird feeder in a tree so how is there a way for the baffle to attach to the birdfeeder is there a hook underneath the baffle
Answer by ChewyOct 19, 2018
This baffle can be either hung or mounted from either the top or bottom portion.

Is there a hook on the bottom of the baffle to hang the feeder from? Like tree, top hook, baffle, bottom hook, feeder?
Answer by ChewyJul 14, 2019
There is a ring inside the baffle that allows you to attach a feeder to it.

How does the baffle attach to the pole?
Answer by ChewyMay 14, 2018
The pole is inserted through the opening in the middle baffle. The adjustable design will fit poles from 0.5 inches to 1.25 inches.

Will this work to protect the feeder from rain and snow?
Answer by ChewyAug 25, 2020
The 2-Way Squirrel Baffle is intended to be used as a squirrel deterrent and not meant to protect bird feeders from outdoor elements.

These "Plastic" Squirrel Baffle's HAVEN'T WORKED

THE PLASTIC BAFFLE'S - ARE A MISTAKE- I should have Gone with My First Gut feeling of the " Metal" BAFFLE's- Because the Squirrel's have Easily latched onto the plastic and gotten into every feeder and suet feeder We have... I bought 8 of these- and Now Having to Pour Mineral Oil on them Every Few days to Attempt to keep the Squirrels off of them... because we cannot afford to buy more- ( or the Metal ones now) I'm sad to Say - I cannot Recommend Them at all...

The Dancing Dome: It really baffles them so far!

Frankly, we bought this dome to protect against ice accumulation on our feeder. We've never in the past found anything at all that could really baffle a hunger-motivated squirrel. But this hanging dome has indeed had that effect. It hangs outside on an iron post, and the feeder is then hung from underneath it. The dome moves in the wind, which itself seems to be a squirrel deterrent. The birds at first were hesitant about the movement, too, but they quickly determined it was of no threat. We've been calling it "the dancing dome." I've seen a squirrel or two successfully reach the top, but then they fall off because their own weight tips them over onto the ground. The diameter of the dome is also wide enough that it seems the squirrels aren't able to hang upside down in some way and clutch themselves to the feeder to eat from it. (I think if the dome were attached in a rigid way to the post, rather than hanging, the squirrels would simply use it as a stable lauching pad to reach where they wanted to land, but the way the dome hangs from the hook and can move prevents that.) We put seeds on the ground for the squirrels, and the birds are now happily left to enjoy the feeder. Even if the squirrels do some day figure out how to circumvent the dome, we are very pleased with how it helps mitigate the worst winter weather, particularly ice build-up on the feeder.

Waste of money

Squirrels hang from this baffle to swing onto feeder & feast. I'm angry. My birdseed wasn't meant for them. I buy peanuts for the Squirrels, Jay's & Woodpeckers. This is a useless waste for the money unless you want Squirrels.

Good, for a while

I should've used the smaller hook, but was nervous that it wouldn't hold the feeder, so instead I hung the feed through the hole to attach to the wire hanging from the branch. The squirrels were eventually able to chew through the top so now they have easy access to the feeder. Have had it for about a year, will get another one, just will use the hooks this time! It worked out for awhile, and reasonably priced

Worked great -- At first...

For the first two or three months, this worked great. Once winter hit and the squirrels had less food available elsewhere, they figured this out. They can now get to the food under this baffle in several different ways (balancing on the top, leaping from trees). I put two new suet cakes out last night and this morning I found my suet feeder in pieces (doors chewed off) and the suet cakes are gone. The squirrels can carry a whole suet cake with no problem. They are smart creatures and I leave food for them too. I don't know if the squirrels can be outsmarted for long, but I really want to see the birds on my feeders again. Looking for yet another way to baffle squirrels.

Squirrel Baffle

Good quality. Solid. Exactly as advertised. My pole was significantly smaller in diameter for the size of this baffle, but, with ingenuity I was able to make it work. Two additional screws and a little electrical tape and it is just perfect. Highly recommended.

works for what i bought it for

i actually bought this for a rain dome. the feeder would hang too low if i hung it from the hook (perfect height for squirrels to access and would not keep rain off), so i fed the line the feeder hangs from through the top (hung as usual) and made a small notch on the swivel so it’d hang straight. so far it’s working as intended. the little birds have no issues…the Stellar’s Jays now have to cling to the tray if they want to raid the feeder…which they’ve always done anyway (when they come in a flock).

Took a while but now they figured it out.

The squirrels are really enjoying this toy. It makes getting to the seed just more interesting and rewarding. Once they get to the seed, they hang on and throw it on the ground for the other squirrels to eat. Can I return it I wonder.

Didn't buy it to keep Squirrels away

I really like this! I'm not trying to keep any animal away from food. I bought this to cover my feeders from the rain and by not letting the bird food get wet and nasty. It's perfect!
