What’s the size of an individual kibble?

The individual kibble are approximately 0.5cm or 1/5th of an inch in diameter. With this said, all of Nulo cat kibble will contain this small disc-shaped kibble size. There are a couple of carefully thought out reasons behind the shape and size of our kibble. Because cats (unlike dogs) are strict carnivores, they do not have molars to assist in grinding food. Instead, they have teeth that are more equipped for ripping, much like their less domestic counterparts. Additionally, cats do not possess the ability to move their jaws in the same lateral, grinding manner that dogs can. Since cats' teeth are designed for tearing and shredding rather than crunching and grinding, Nulo designed the small disc shape of our kibble to allow the pieces to be swallowed easily and comfortably!

Every cat is a little different, so the ideal feeding amount may vary with age, neuter status, environment and activity level. Use the feeding information as a starting guideline and adjust as required to maintain optimal body weight. Ask your veterinarian if you're unsure. Always provide plenty of clean, fresh water and hugs.

Transition Instructions

When first introducing your pet to Nulo, we recommend slowly transitioning over the course of 5 to 7 days to reduce the risk of digestive upset that can occur with a rapid change in diet. We recommend portioning 25% of the new food on the first day mixed with 75% of the former food. Over the course of several days, gradually increase this ratio until you are feeding 100% of the new food. This will allow your pet's digestive system time to adjust to any new ingredients and will help to ensure a smooth transition. Mixing up proteins can be a great way to provide variety to your pet's diet. Once your pet has transitioned to the Nulo platform, rotating between recipes is generally seamless!
