Since this is a chewable tablet, can it be crushed and mixed with water to administer to a cat via oral syringe?

Answer by ChewyOct 07, 2023
For those owners who have difficulty administering tablets to their pets, Denamarin tablet(s) may be disguised in a small bite of food. Studies have shown that, in many cases, tablets or capsules given as a "dry swallow" do not pass into the stomach in cats but may become lodged in the esophagus. It is recommended for pet owners to administer 3-6 cc of water immediately following any tablet administration to speed the passage of the tablet into the stomach.

Do I need a prescription for this item?

This liver supplement does not require a prescription.

Micho, my 21 y/o cat developed kidney failure due to separation anxiety. He was not eating for days and his pet sitter didn't notice. When we returned after a 3 week cruise during which I was already anxious at leaving him with anyone. He was in acute kidney failure and I was beyond distraught. The vet gave him meds and nutritional support and also prescribed Denmarin, which unfortunately, he did not have in stock. Chewy had it and it arrived within 2 days. Micho was so sick for weeks, near death, no exaggeration and I had even considered euthanizing him. As I approached that decision, I noticed that he had begun eating just a bit, drinking and so I wanted to give him the time to get better. Denmarin, was absolutely the reason his bloodwork retuned to WNL. The vet was stunned at his 180. Unfortunately, I wasn't told that he'd need to continue the medication for the rest of his life and so for about two months, he was not given the tablets and became very sick once again. I contacted Chewy and Denamarin was sent express. Micho gets his, in our experience LIFE SAVING medication, daily. He's not pleased taking the tablet but somewhere in his sweet cat mind, he knows, if he doesn't, he'll be very sick again and so do I. This product was very effective in supporting his kidneys in their weakened condition and I absolutely believe it has extended his life. SO grateful this product was available on Chewy!

Our kitty has been on phenobarbital for over a year now to combat her seizures. Because she’s on a high dose, we are worried about her liver. We started her on this at the same time. After a year on both, her bloodwork shows she is doing great! I’d like to think it’s this helping! It’s certainly doesn’t seem to be hurting either! Our vet had suggested this to support her liver, so we’re glad we’ve stuck with it.

My cat got sick and the vet prescribed a new medication. Unfortunately, my cat went into liver failure. My vet gave this medication as supplement and last resort. My cat responded very well. Her liver enzymes labs results were near normal. The vet recommended to keep giving her this supplement until the next follow up. The downside is that the pills can't be crushed, have to be taken whole. My vet taught me how to use a pill dispenser to give the medication. It wasn't easy but it save my cat's life. She has her next vet appt in January-

Unsure about this medication

I have had my cat on this medication for the past 4 days. He is 15 years old and possibly has a tumor. We choose to try medication right now instead of the ultrasound. He has vomited everyday since then. He has never vomited this much. Usually it's once a week. I decided to stop the medication and he has yet to vomit. I know he possibly has a tumor, but I find that this medication possibly has made things worse. After reading one person's response I'm stopping it. I will consult my vet for alternatives. I don't plan on my cats last year or so being sick like this. Plus this still may be just a thyroid thing.

Fast service

It was so nice to get the order within three days as I was running low on this medication and it came in time. I wish I could get a 90 day supply instead of a 30
