My 6 month old toy poodle chewed and may have eaten 3/4 of this bone during the night. Is it digestable?

I have a 2 month old Chiweenie. I am scared he will swallow the small pieces. Is this a good idea? Please let me know. I need a good teething toy that will entertain him but not make him sick.

Answer by ChewyJan 11, 2018
This product is perfect for teething puppies. If the puppy happens to swallow small pieces he (or she) will be able to pass them. However, we always encourage pet parents to supervise their dog during play time.

Hi, I have a 12 week old Chihuahua Mini Pinscher mix. We gave him this toy and within a few minutes he had already almost removed two of the little pieces. Should we continue using this for teething or do you recommend moving to a moderate or strong chewing style chew toy?

Answer by ChewyDec 24, 2019
Puppies should use Nylabone puppy-specific products until permanent adult teeth develop. Puppies have temporary teeth (called puppy teeth or milk teeth) that generally fall out between 14 and 30 weeks, when they are replaced by adult teeth.

How durable is this product? Will it break easily? I have a 2 month old Yorkipoo and she chews a lot. Please let me know if this is a good idea.

Answer by ChewySep 26, 2019
This toy is not intended for puppies with adult teeth or for powerful chewers.

These are Their FAVORITE chewy bones, but they are really too small. I have a Scotchi and a Manchi. I really need a size small or medium bone. But this texture and material is exactly what they love. The first ones lasted about a week or two. They spit out any crubbles, with made us both happy. They reduced their anxiety, I'm not giving them anything that will put on extra pounds, and there's an added dental component. But with these extra small ones, they only last about an hour or less. I would take the ones I have left to the teacup yorkie next door. But she has no teeth. So, I will save them for a shelter baby or visiting pup. Nothing ever goes to waste.

This was one of my puppy's favorite toys for a bit, but she is pretty much over it now. She especially liked it when I froze it. I assume the cold felt good on the gums. She mostly only pays attention to this if we're playing tug with it, which with the raised bumps on it makes it easier for her to hang on to.

Bad Result with Nylabone

I have purchased similar chew bones made by Hartz and they have been great. Chewy doesn’t carry that brand so I purchased a look-alike bone by Nylabone. Very quickly my dog had chewed and eaten 80% of it. Soon thereafter, the dog was throwing up a large volume of vomit. Very concerning. Several hours later the dog and I have calmed down, the rugs and floors have been cleaned. Will never purchase again and suggest you don’t buy the bone either.

Do NOT buy these for a puppy

My puppy ate this whole bone as if it was edible. I had to take him to the vet and have them induce vomiting. These break apart easily. Not safe at all!!!

My Corgi pup is teething badly. Purchased this. Gave it to him an hr ago. Destroyed. Maybe ok for very young puppies with teeny tiny teeth.

Do not buy

Got this for our 9 week old puppy. He’s just 8 pounds and all the rubber nubs were chewed off within 15 minutes. Went right in the trash! Waste of money.

I wanted the pink bone for my new girl puppy. She had no interest it.

I had to throw this away as my 7 yr old Jack Russel love it too much and was eatting the knobs of of it.

Perfect for 12 pound puppy

This is the perfect size for our 12 pound puppy - it is the right amount of soft and hard for where he is with his teething now.

I bought this for our 10 month old rescue, a wire hair terrier mix, on the recommendation of the vet. I took it out of the packaging and gave it to him. He was very enthusiastically chewing on it, but within the hour, I discovered little pieces of the bone all over the living room. Needless to say, I took it away from him and tossed it since it was now dangerous. I suspect he would do better with a regular Nylabone.
