I was turned onto this cat litter by a client of mine, I am a professional cat sitter. I decided to try it with my own 3 cats. I liked the lightweight of it and I liked the smell/odor control. It also seemed to last forever. The major con for me however, is because it's so lightweight. It doesn't look like it's tracking but it tracks even farther and ends up in the weirdest places, almost like dust, whereas other cat litters I have tried (swheat scoop is our usual brand) track right outside the litter box but not usually any further. I would find this okocat cat litter in my bed which I really did not enjoy. I think the best option is to use 50% okocat 50% and another scoopable and I will try that in the future. As I have mentioned I have tried the pellet okocat and the regular okocat as well and I would not recommend either of those.
Our cat was suddenly diagnosed to have "puffy pwas" an auto immune disorder that causes inflammation in the paw pads which become swollen.I read that an alternative to clay based litter would be better and ordered this item. She and our other cat share the litter box and took to the change very easily. I have to add that the box smells much fresher and has less negative odor than the clay litter. Highly recommend.
I am trying various non-clay litters for 1 of my cats, she doesn't like the clay and it sticks to her fur. I mixed this litter with the crystal litter that is in her box and found that it clumps very well and there's no odor from the box. It does track on the mat and the floor, but is easy to sweep and vacuum. The litter crunches when you step on it, but it's soft and doesn't hurt like the crystal litter (which is like stepping on legos). I'm considering adding this to the clay litter boxes as some of the other cats are gravitating to the box with this litter.
I have three cats all aged around 14 yrs. old. I tried this litter thinking is might be less dusty and not as trackable. It is terrible! I can barely breath when I scoop and the whole room where the litter box is located is horribly dusty. The litter has turned to sawdust and is tracked all over the house. I would not recommend this product to anyone and would like a refund for the unused box or a shipping label to send it back. I have no problem with Chewy and would recommend this company to anyone, but this product stinks (literally)!
Wanted to try this out since i had some clumping issues with the pellet litter from Okocat, but oh my god the dust issues with this!!! Insane! So much dust when i pour it and it caked the inside of both the litter boxes with dust, making my monthly littler box deep cleans a nightmare. Would not recommend if you have a covered/hooded litter box. My black cat would come out of the litter box covered in dust each time he used it, and the dust caused eye irritations for my tuxedo cat! Although I don’t like how Okocats pellet litter clumps, i switched back to using that one since it has way way waaay less dust issues. Giving this one two stars instead of one since it did clump nice and made scooping litter pretty easy.
I did “trial runs” with a bunch of different litters that claimed to be the best. This was the 5th litter I tried and it’s been over 7 months and I still love it!! I don’t smell anything but the wood scent the litter has, it’s not very dusty, it’s light (I HATED lifting the heavy litters!!), clumps well. It does track I will say, but unlike the past litters I tried, I don’t feel it as bad on my feet so it’s not near as annoying. I have 4 cats and not one of them has a problem using this litter. 10/10, best litter I’ve tried!
My old man cat doesn't have claws and needs soft litter. I've tried all non-clay options out there. World's Best just wasn't clumping or controlling odor, and my previous favorite grass-pellet-based option clumped very well but just tracked everywhere. I also liked the walnut shell types, but it tracked and stained everything brown. Okocat is essentially sawdust/wood shavings, but it smells pleasant like a woodshop and clumps amazingly clean...no stray bits of urine in the box means this is already lasting me twice as long as other substrates AND is a lot lighter and better for odor control. I paired my box with a very large, high pile microfiber bath mat to catch the litter this time and so far, so great. I wish I'd switched a long time ago.
Okocat used to be good. For about the past 6 months I've noticed that it doesn't clump well at all. I enmailed Okocat and they said that the wood breaks down differently during the high heat processing, and offered a $3 coupon off a new box. I don't want a new box. I want a litter that clumps, especially for the cost. I'm seriously thinking of changing. It tracks terribly because it doesn't clump properly. So disappointed.
I have an older declawed cat who had taken to peeing on the floor outside the box. It took him about a week but he is using this litter and no more messes. He does track it everywhere but better than peeing on the floor! I am going to try a different litter mat to see if that cuts down tracking. Controls odor like a champ!
I got this litter in clumping pellet form at first, and none of our cats were buying into the idea of wood pellet litter. So I switched to the soft paws version and we have been slowly transitioning from clay to the Okocat soft-so far everyone, including the humans are liking this new style of litter. There is waaay less dust and smell, and even though the product is expensive, it is lasting longer than any litter we have ever used. Chewy shipped the item quickly and we are very happy that they carry this item.
