A Healthier Clean Cat Litter

Leave old-school clay and chemicals in the dust. Made from sustainably sourced, responsibly rescued wood fiber, high-performing Okocat natural litter is relentless at controlling odor, with a fresh natural scent reminiscent of the great outdoors.

Use Less. Spend Less. Scatter Less.

With regular scooping, Okocat litters can last up to 7 weeks for one cat. Plus, the Low Tracking variety is designed to stay in the litter box, preserving it for use while keeping your home tidy. It’s litter that lasts longer—in more ways than one.

Questions & Answers

15 Customer Questions

What is the best way to dispose of their gift after they go in the litter box?

Answer by ChewyApr 10, 2019
This litter is flushable and have been certified by SGS in accordance with ANSI standards (ASME A112.19.6. (JRS)) However, local limitations should be considered and flushing is not recommended if on a septic system. As well, the state of California has a referendum against flushing cat litter for protection of the sea lion population, since cat feces can harm sea lions. You can also dispose of waste in the trash.

Would this litter work with the litter robot?

Answer by ChewyJul 11, 2022
We only recommend using this litter in a manual type of litter machine, not automatic, as the formed clumps should sit for 1-2 hours before sifting for best results.

Is this safe if my cat licks off the residue from his paws after he uses his litter box? He doesn’t full on eat it, just cleans himself off afterward.

Answer by ChewyOct 19, 2020
This natural litter is made from biodegradable wood fiber and is 100% free from artificial fragrances, synthetic chemicals, toxic dyes and GMOs..

We started using this litter when we adopted an elderly, front declawed cat. It works well for urine absorption and moderately well for smell. Our other cat (not declawed), who was previously using crystal litter, preferred using this litter as well. From what we've found, this litter works best for manual scooping and does not work well for automatic cat boxes. I do not recommend using it at all in the Litter Robot 4 (the wood grains don't flow well, causing most of them to immediately get deposited into the waste compartment). That said, we did have some success using it in our older PetSafe ScoopFree litter box. For that system, because this is a clumping litter, litter changes are needed more frequently (compared to the recommended crystal litter) and it leaves a mess on the rake that also needs to be frequently cleaned off.

My cat really likes this litter, and I love that it not only conceals the litter smell, but even smells like fresh wood. I keep my box in the living room in a cupboard, and even sitting directly next to it on the couch, you can only smell wood shaving smell. It's the best litter I've found for a box that needs to be in living space. I also love how well it clumps and the low plastic packaging. The only downside is that it does track quite a bit, but with a mat and litter box cupboard it's totally manageable and still 100000% worth it for all the other perks.

I started using this product about a year to 1.5 years ago. At first it was great, kept the smell down. That’s where it ends. My cat were all adopted with medical issues such as feline herpes and this litter is so incredibly dusty, I have to wear a mask cleaning it, I can’t imagine what it does to my cats respiratory system. Which leads me to, my cats seem sick way more often than they used to. I’ve had two cats get cancer with a month of each other in the time frame used (I know cats are prone to cancer but idk it was oral cancer and cancer found on a paw). I work in environmental and even though they say it’s not made with harmful chemicals, what are the trees treated with? If they’re treated with pesticides, fungicides, etc, that’s technically not used to make the litter. Trees are extremely susceptible to diseases that kill and are usually treated with something. I need more information; what standards and regulations they have to abide by. All claims are extremely vague. If it needs to be composted for longer than 6 months to use in a vegetable garden, how is that good for cats to be regularly cleaning wood particles off their paws? I’m not saying clay litter is better but I’ve had less issues with clay in 15 years than I have had with this litter for a year. Oh, and it tracts absolutely everywhere, EVERYWHERE.

Mixed 2 parts litter with 1 part clay, it is super easy to scoop, and I can easily add more, in that proportion, to keep up the depth my cat prefers. And it's in an 10.8 lb bag -- much easier than the 22lb. bags I'm used to dealing with.. A very welcome change, since I am now 82 years old, and only 5 ft. tall. Time will tell if I've got the autoship set correctly - but easy to change at any rate.

I have used this litter for almost 15 years and it is the only litter I will use. the first time I came across the okocat brand, I had adopted a declawed cat and I was looking for a litter the was best for declawed cats, and okocat litter (the pink one) popped up as being softest for their paws. multiple cats later, I tried switching back to other litter brands and I just wasn't as happy, from odor control to ease of scooping. I could tell my kitties weren't happy either. okocat forever!

I have been through trial and error with SOOO many litter brands and this one is the best! You get so much litter for a great price. Itll last you a good of time inbetween deep cleanings too. The tracking is a little messy but thats an easy fix, and theres no dust! Overall very healthy for your kitty i 100% recommend and especially paired with arm & hammer litter odor control is a great combo

I've just recently switched over to natural litter, and I think this litter is good at clumping and okay with odor-blocking. The biggest issue is the dust, unfortunately. Whenever I sift out the clumps, big clouds of dust form and it's quite irritating to the eyes and lungs. It also tracks a bit after my cats step off of the track mats, so that's another unfortunate flaw.

Yes tracking but gorilla mats and the carpeted litter mats help. I've always kept a cheap (very cheap) hand held vacuum by litter boxes anyway. Yes their are sometimes bags you get that are super dusty but duest doesn't coat the entire room like the clay ones only the immediate area and it's only sometimes. Most bags are great. The more you handle it scoop it, the age of the bags, handling during shipment all add to the break down of the wood creating dustier bags but for the most part I get bags with no dust (with the soft step type. Their was much more dust in the regular brand that isn't the full pellets but not shaved like the soft step. And ill take that little bit of dust that SOMETIMES occurs over the clay litters I was spending $60 on to fill the two litter boxes and had to do complete dump, cleaning, and refill with new litter 3x a month to keep smell from taking over the entire 2nd floor of house. With okocat I only need one of the biggest bags fills both litter boxes with enough left for top offs, and as long as scooping frequently litter lasts a whole month now. Still no smell. Could go longer but that's gross. Gotta hit those litter boxes with good enzyme cleaner at least once a month, prefer two weeks but ever since trumps waged war on the poor, I have had to save wherever possible in order to feed us.

Better than most

I was looking for clumping flushable cat litter that wouldn’t get tracked all over on my Maine coon’s fluffy paws. Outside of the clumps falling apart when scooping

I was looking for clumping flushable cat litter that wouldn’t get tracked all over on my Maine coon’s fluffy paws. Outside of the clumps falling apart when scooping if they haven’t sat for a while, it’s pretty good. It doesn’t track as much as the World’s Best I had been using, but I wish the clumps wouldn’t fall apart as much as they do. I also appreciate the lack of artificial scent.

Natural Litter that Works

Have multiple cats. Have tried so, so, so many different litters from standard toxic clay to pine to paper to walnut, and now to wood. Like this best of all naturals. The Sensitive is my preference. It makes a difference for them. I pair it with Dr. Elsey's pine (for a bottom layer, which helps keep smell down). My cats like the wood and the sensitive touch. Really appreciate this company for making (and all the companies) making non-toxic options that help pets live longer by keeping them from having to experience the big box store options of toxic clay.
