    Beautiful fish

They do sink! My fish love these pellets. I just wish they were a tad smaller. My Rams have a hard time eating them. I use a scissors to cut them up.

Less waste, but pellets are small (and float)

    By on

I have found this to have the most nutritious ingredients, which is important to me when choosing food for my pets. I also particularly like that when my fish eat this food there isn't a lot of waste. There is another brand that, when the fish swallows it, they spew out visible clouds of waste through their gills, yuck! This means not only that the fish aren't getting the nutritional value of the food, but it makes for a really dirty tank. The only thing that is annoying about this product is some confusion about the name. It says "Large Cichlid," which I took to mean that it is both formulated to feed large fish, and also that the pellets are larger, to feed larger fish. However the pellets I have found this to have the most nutritious ingredients, which is important to me when choosing food for my pets. The only thing that is annoying about this product is some confusion about the name. It says "Large Cichlid," which I took to mean that it is both formulated to feed large fish, and also that the pellets are larger, to feed larger fish. However the pellets are actually the same small size as any other food. Not the end of the world, but I have 1 Tiger Oscar in 55 gallon tank (with one huge Pleco) and I swear the Oscar is 11 inches long, so it takes me forever to feed him. I'm sure we also lose some that he doesn't get so there is some small waste there too. The next thing is that these say "Sinking Food" but other Omegs One Cichlid foods say "Floating Pellets." Now, any oscars I've had have eaten anything I throw in the tank as soon as it hits the water, so I'm thinking they need floating pellets and almost didn't buy this product. (Why do they even have sinking pellets?) But I can tell you that there is no difference between this product and other cichlid pellets I've fed in the past. The pellets float long enough for Oscar to eat them - granted, that's not long. I can't tell you whether they sink after that or how long it takes because it never lasts that long. Oh, and my fish does have beautiful color! Overall, very satisfied with this product. … more
