Do any of the ingredients come from China?
Answer by • Mar 27, 2021
This recipe is made in the USA. ORIJEN's focus when sourcing ingredients has always been on using ingredients from suppliers they know and trust. Part of this commitment is choosing suppliers with the technical expertise and discipline to give the best ingredients available. While they do not source ingredients directly from China, some of their B vitamins are made with raw materials that originate in China. This would apply to vitamins B1 and B6, and is consistent throughout the pet food industry. They require that any vitamin components sourced from China must be human grade, and as such they undergo intensive testing to ensure the purity of the ingredient and accuracy of the blend.
What is the copper content?

This recipe contains approximately 20 milligrams of copper per kilogram.
Is it safe ? I don’t see taurine. How much taurine is in this food?
Orijen takes care with their ingredient sourcing, quality control, and recipes. My 9 (10 in May) year old dog Gibson has dealt with hypersensitivity to yeast and allergies to lots of things (we've tried hypoallergenic, raw, dehydrated, food trials, kangaroo, you name it), and while I don't think he'll ever be 100% itch-free, he does well on Six Fish.
I appreciate that Orijen includes only fish proteins (and grain-free plant/legume proteins) in this food; many other options also include other proteins and their derivatives (for example, chicken fat, porcine plasma, eggs), which Gibson has shown sensitivity to. It's also super helpful that Orijen provides the percentage of dietary starch and sugar in their recipes; when you're battling chronic yeast problems, you want to feed something low-starch. The starch and sugar content of this food make it a great option, and the fact that I'm able to easily find that information makes life that much easier!
Most importantly, Gibson does super well on Six Fish. When he is on it, he has boundless energy and is extremely playful. My parents remarked several times - almost every time they've seen him since he started eating it - that he was "like a puppy" and that I should keep doing whatever I'm doing! It's clear the food is the reason for his behavior; I've recently changed foods just to try some other formulas, and his energy level has gone down, he's sleeping more, and he just seems more "senior". I'll be putting him back on Six Fish ASAP so I can have my youthful dog back. While he doesn't do great on the Amazing Grains version of this food (digestive issues), he has no problem with the grain-free version; stools are solid and he is not gassy. The kibble is big enough that he has to chew it, not swallow it whole, and it's nice and moist (not dry and powdery). Overall 5/5!

No interest after sniff
I had high hopes for this food after seeing the high number of positive reviews. I hoped my two dogs would take to it because I want to discontinue home cooked for them
Why did I think they would go for a dry food after home cooked? Silly. Back to cooking!

Quality ingredients, but
I switched over to the six fish blend from the original blend because I liked the idea of more fish and the benefits that would have for my dogs health and coat. Unfortunately, she didn't take to this recipe very well and doesn't seem to want to eat it / gets an upset stomach afterwards (even after 2 weeks). It's bizarre cause all her favorite treats are fish-related ones. Ah well, you win some, you lose some. Did want to highlight though that it has a strong fishy smell to it so highly recommend having an airtight container for this, so you don't stink up wherever the food is stored.

Six Fish Dog Food
I got my Golden Retriever from a backyard breeder where she was living in a garage during the polar vortex when she was only 9 weeks old. Since the “breeder” didn’t know what they were doing, she is plagued by such a multitude of allergies that it took me literally years. She’s 3.5 and I’ve tried everything under the sun and finally had decided I was going to have to make her food for the rest of her life. But this Orijen Six Fish dog food works. I still have to give her Zyrtec, but that’s because she’s allergic to grass and other plants outside. But she is allergic to all meat of mammals and poultry. And I have tried novel proteins like kangaroo and alligator meat. She is like a different dog now. She has filled out and she is calm. She used to just whine and jump incessantly because she was miserable. She used to scoot and lick her bottom and I’d even have to wipe her. Now she can poop like a big girl lol - on her own! No more stinky dog and no more getting violated at the groomer! Fish breath and fish farts are now part of my life but I will take them gladly because my pupper girl is no longer suffering!

GREAT FOOD, NEEDS BETTER PACKAGING
Orijen 6 Fish is my dog's favorite dry food! He likes the original version and the new "Amazing Grains" version equally well. He is fed Orijen for breakfast (we rotate between their egg-free version because he is allergic to egg albumin) and he gets a raw dinner at night. I love the whole animal ingredients and the minimal synthetics. What I don't love is that for one of the most expensive kibbles you can buy, they can't be bothered to put the same zip closure on their 13# and 22# bags as they do their 4# bags. How ridiculous is this? Granted, if a company is going to cut corners on quality, I guess I'd rather it be in packaging than in ingredients; I can always repackage but seriously? Tacky.

Best There Is
I believe Orijen is the best kibble food available for my dogs. All varieties are made with whole animal ingredients with herbs and a few veggies & fruits. I just lost my beloved Parson Russell Terrier at 18 years of age. I believe this is a testament to the quality of his food. I would recommend Orijen to everyone. It is expensive, but well worth it in my opinion.

Yea! Finally!!
Haven’t been able to get the Orijen dog food at my usual spots. Glad to see Chewy finally carrying it since we order all our other dog food and goodies from here. Now, just one place to shop! Our senior dog (who has lots of allergies) has been on this great grain free, no chicken, dry dog food for a long time and it’s worked wonderfully for him. So happy Chewy is carrying it now!

My dog's coat looks great and she doesn't scratch anymore
I can't say enough good things about this dog food. Since it solved my dogs itching problem, it's worth every penny.
It's expensive, but having a healthier dog means less vet bills and for me, my dog doesn't need to take allergy medicine anymore.
I Highly recommend this. You and your dog will be happy.

FOUND PLASTIC IN FOOD
I have purchased orijen for my gsd puppy and never had a issue except today when pouring his food onto his bowl I noticed something green and when i took it out it was melted piece of green plastic in his food. highly upsetting as i take my pups health and what he eats extremely serious it’s sad that dog food companies don’t care for our dogs health at all.

kitty still loves
My kitty has chicken and pea allergies so it has been very difficult to find food, or food she would like.I finally threw in the towel when she was stealing mine or the dogs food. Then I found this amazing company. She actually enjoys her food and I have been able to cut back on buying wet food. This formula has also helped her skin greatly. My old gal is the more energetic and healthy than I’ve seen her in years. Thank you for giving her a new life
