Otomax is an ointment prescribed by your vet to treat your canine companions' acute or chronic ear infection. It's a combination of a steroid, antibacterial and antifungal ear medication, and it may be effective against both bacterial and yeast infections of the ear as well as inflammation. This tube comes with a convenient applicator for easy administration.

Possible Side EffectsPlease contact your veterinarian if the following adverse reactions occur: hearing loss or balance problems, increased drinking and urination, topical or systemic allergic reaction or bacterial and fungal infections.
Drug & Food InteractionsIf hypersensitivity to any of the components occurs, treatment should be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted. Associated use of drugs known to induce ear toxicity should be avoided. Do not use in pets with known perforation of eardrums.
Precautions
If overgrowth of non-susceptible bacteria, fungi, or yeasts occur, or if hypersensitivity develops, treatment should be discontinued, and appropriate therapy instituted. Administration of recommended doses beyond seven days may result in delayed wound healing. Avoid ingestion. Before instilling any medication into the ear, examine the external ear canal thoroughly to be certain the ear is not ruptured in order to avoid the possibility of transmitting an infection to the middle ear, as well as damaging the ear from prolonged contact.

Gentamicin Sulfate, USP Equivalent To 3 Mg Gentamicin Base; Betamethasone Valerate, USP Equivalent To 1 Mg Betamethasone; And 10 mg Clotrimazole, USP.
The external ear should be properly cleaned and dried before treatment. Remove foreign material, debris, crusted exudates, etc., with suitable nonirritating solutions. Excessive hair should be clipped from the treatment area. After verifying that the eardrum is intact, instill 4 drops of OTOMAX ointment twice daily into the ear canal of dogs weighing less than 30 lbs. Instill 8 drops twice daily into the ear canal of dogs weighing 30 lbs or more. Massage external ear canal carefully after installation to ensure appropriate distribution of medication. Therapy should continue for 7 consecutive days.
Storage InstructionsStore between 36° - 77°F. Shake well before use when using the 215g, 30g and 15g bottle.

How does this medication work?

What results can I expect?
Otomax relieves the symptoms of your pets ear infection and kills susceptible bacteria that cause them. Using beyond 7 days could delay wound healing. Contact your veterinarian if your pets symptoms are still present after the course of medication has been completed.

My dog suffers from many allergies and her ears and feet are affected badly. I use Otomax on her feet to clear up the blisters she gets from her allergies. I rub it in the bottom of her paws and put baby socks on her so it has time to soak in and she can’t lick it off. It also will clear her ears up within two days. My Vet recommends it for both. It has cortisone that helps heal her feet.

I am grateful I was able to buy Otomax at Chewey for my dog's (yeast) ear infection, and the staff was helpful in keeping me up-to-date on the status of my order. I wish, however, that it was possible to scan or fax prescriptions to the Chewey Pharmacy as it took eleven days between the time the vet wrote the prescription and the product's delivery. (My vet claims this is a product he can no longer acquire, and as it is more effective than Tresaderm, the infection was still active when the Otomax arrived.)

Using product once a day or every other day. She has an appointment tomorrow for annual checkup. Will ask vet how her left ear is doing.
