How long do these typically last for 2 Guinea pigs? How many should I expect to need each week?
Answer by • Nov 20, 2022
If your using this as the sole source of hay for a 2 pound pet this will last approximately 18 days, for a 5 pound pet this will last approximately 7 days and for a 7 pound pet this will last approximately 5 days.
is this 1st cut?

Oxbow uses the same hay that comes in the bags/boxes of our Western Timothy Hay. Every part of the hay plant (stem, leaf, seed head) provides valuable nutrition to your pet. At Oxbow, they strive to produce hay that includes a good balance of each. Depending on where hay is in its growth cycle, you will generally see some differences in the balance of these physical components. First cutting hay is typically stemmier with larger seed heads; second cutting is more likely to be leafier/softer with more brown leaf and smaller seed heads. Rather than market/sell hay by cutting, they strive to harvest all Oxbow hay early in its growth cycle – when specific product attributes are most likely to meet the needs and preferences of most small herbivores. In reality, there are times when Mother Nature does not fully cooperate; factors such as rain, wind, temperature, and humidity can all delay the timing of a harvest.
At this point I don not think there are any worse hay you can find out there. This compressed hay was always been the most favorite food for my guinea pigs. But this batch was extremely bad. The only part that was ok were the dry carrots. The compressed hay itself was dark brown, smelled stale and was very extremely dusty. None of my seven guinea pigs touched it at all. I bought two boxes and still have most on it intact, since no one is eating it.
Oxbow has expanded their products but went down in quality. I would not recommend this product to anyone

my bunnies like these
These last up to a week and my bunnies seem to enjoy them very much! The ones with added carrots - carrots get chewed off first! lol

Still messy
I had been using the loosely packed Timothy Hay but was so messy and most ended up under the cage in the tray so I thought I'd try this instead. My rabbit loves trying to find the carrot pieces in it but in doing so most of the hay still ends up under the cage in the tray. I actually don't think there is a way to avoid this so I would still recommend this product.

Amazingly great
My piggie LOVES these stackers (and so do I)! It is fresh, it is scrumptious, she actually eats almost the entire thing! I love it because Im not spilling hay all over my floor trying to get it out of the bag! Its super compact so you have to twist it to loosen the grass, then you place it in the piggie zone and viola, happy piggie.
Seriously, its so good. Buy it.

Another good one
This was the first time trying the carrot one. My bun is not as excited for this flavor, she seems to prefer the chamomile flavor over the carrot.

Simply amazing stuff!
I’d never bought anything other than bags of oxbow hay before but holy cow! This is the freshest, greenest hay I’ve ever gotten! I’m beyond impressed at all the flavors of the harvest stacks!

Only timothy hay I'll buy
I'm allergic to timothy hay but it's the only hay my bunny will eat when she gets tired of Orchard hay. These are so nice because they arent dusty at all and dont trigger my allergies. I hope they never get rid of these.

Piggies loved this!
The foster guinea pigs tucked into this straight away! I wouldn't give this instead of loose hay but perfect to supplement and keep them busy.
