Thoroughly rinse out the filter with running water before inserting in to the fountain. Although completely harmless, doing this will cleanse the filter of any charcoal dust that may have become loose. It is recommended the filter be replaced every 2 to 4 weeks and more frequently if multiple pets are using the fountain.
I just opened these to replace the filter in my water bowl and the first one I pulled out had a bunch of charcoal falling out of it. Two of the 6 had this same issue, so I do at least have 4 usable ones, however this is a pretty big quality issue. These work, they’re relatively cheap, but you might not get all 6 filters.

Not worth the few dollars you save for filter replacements. I always try the generic as I am a bargain hunter but I will be going back to the Catit brand filters as these do not allow the water to flow properly and had to be changed every 2 weeks vs 3-4 with Catit brand so in the end you aren't saving any money anyway.
These barely lasted a week.

There’s generic filters barely last a week when they are supposed to last a month. They clog and water ends up running over the side of the water fountain.

Water is not able to go through these filters which creates a slime and gross residue all over the water fountain. My cat refused to drink out of it so I checked how the fountain was doing and there was slime everywhere and it was not filtering at all, but just falling through the overfill hole. Do not buy. All they could offer was to send me replacements but I will not be using this product for my animal.
These suck Poo

I tried these and the catit brand. These are awful. Clogs up where you can’t pour water in. Will stick to catit brand. And they are a higher quality.
Has strange solid inside?

We went through about half of these and didn't notice any issues until the last 3. All of which seem to have some kind of solid, small, white rock or something of that nature and they do not dissolve in water.
I will purchase more, since we need them anyways, and will update my review if the next batch is clean or not.
Filters for Catit Fountain
on Jul 13, 2021
I bought a Catit fountain, that doesn’t have a flower or anything in the middle and bought these filters for replacement. They fit and my cats are continuing to enjoy their water fountain daily! Love the cat fountain and so do my 2 cats!
great filters for the $

Really enjoyed these. I am ordering another box now.
My oldest cat tosses cat food in the water everyday and with cat dirt and hair, the motor clogs up quick but with the filter, it doesn’t clog.
You can add your water and carry on.
I have washed the filters to make them last a bit longer during covid times so that is doable as well.
Not worth your money

I bought these a few months ago, and after reading a lot of the negative reviews, I'm wondering if these are responsible for the little worms I found in the filter a few days ago. I was using one of the filters for less than a month and when I went to change it I noticed little white worms with black heads. Appeared to be some type of fly larvae, but the vet gave my cat a dewormer just in case. Many people have left reviews saying how these don't filter the water well and notice more biofilm than with the Catit brand filters. Whenever I would change these filters they were always very slimy, so this makes me wonder if these promoted fungus gnats or other pests to inhabit.

They do not fit either. These filters are just like the last ones I received. So now my two fur babies are drinking unfiltered water.
