How do you give know when to change filter please b specific also do you need to keep it running 24/7

The filters should be replaced every 2-4 weeks. It's recommended to disassemble the fountain and scrub the unit weekly to view the condition of the filter. The motor is attached directly to the wall plug, so unless you unplug the motor it will keep running.

Leaves my water fountain slimy

Not sure these are authentic. After as little as a couple weeks my pets fountain is full of a slimy residue that I don't typically get when purchasing the 3 pack. Definitely will not purchase again. The first time I noticed this I was ashamed that I'd let my pets drink out of it not knowing how gross it had gotten so quickly.

These are the worst filters I have ever used for my cat fountain. The charcoal breaks off and is the water. Do not buy!

Good filters

I just got my Drinkwell fountain and ordered these filters for it. They were easy to install and fit well into the filter's area. I rinsed and rinsed the filters to hopefully get carbon dust out of it but I still notice it sometimes even though it is 2 weeks later. I like the filters but would like less carbon dust to come out of the rinsed filters. The black dust goes right into the drinking bowl part of the fountain so I then need to empty the fountain and put new water in it again. I am sure it does its job but since this is a new fountain I haven't changed to a new one yet. I hope that all is well when I do!
